Now I know what you mean, no, not around the heart, but in the back, as if it was a bed of arteries coming from the back of the heart and spreading around. Like the picture I sent yo. It's like looking at a tree from the top, but you can see all the roots going to the sides.

Do you think we could make the crown look like an ancient castle or city? And maybe remove the word Blackheart? It has been the consensus on my players survey.

This is a clean version. Heart and letters could be "rusted" for a fierce aspect.
Also all elements could be provided alone to ease implementation.

Hey there, I like the design, I would keep the name Blackheart outside of the main design, as it is supposed to be reproducible in a flag for a kingdom. I guess the heart would then have to be bigger.
