What Diana is really looking for is a STRONG wordmark-style logo, similar to your Couples and DoneThatCity.
Can we see some variations with the words Birding and Aboard "side-by-side" and "stacked"? Maybe with one or two of her contest-description graphics (binoculars, survey tally sheet, checkmarks, bird, planet/earth/continents globe, oceans, etc.) integrated into the BA text?
You get the idea, not trying to over-direct you here. Just some ideas.
And sorry, my mistake, the sub-text would be better if ordered "Binoculars and Cameras" versus the other way around.
