Thanks for the ranking, I'll be trying a few fonts, I believe I also have the font you pointed out from another contest. I'll definitely give it a shot. Are the colors OK? Any other changes that you might want me to also try?
We love the symbol if the figure could be "stronger" as in more dramatic, we really love it - maybe different plays on the text but this one is in the zone!
please also note Bikram and Yoga are 2 words, not one connected, thanks and look forward to more
Your feedback is appreciated. I added a slightly jagged edge around my figure, which might be making it appear to thin. I wanted to go with a flowing, organic look, but this is an easy fix. I will make it with a harder edge and also try the jagged edges but open it up more. As for the pose, do you want the back leg higher? And the arm tilted up more? Please let me know. :)
I just uploaded a few more. I changed the pose and added more musculature to the body. Please let me know if the leg should be higher or straighter. I also customized the font so that it would have a feel of the original but a bit more legible. In #44 I decided to curve the font so that you can see it a bit more dynamic. If you have any other ideas or revisions just let me know. If it's OK, I will keep working on these and any changes you have and upload as the contest gets closer to the end. I see that the contest is pretty much going from original concepts to variations of the top rank which is not allowed and stated in the Designers Code of Conduct. This is not fair to you the contest holder and the designers being copied.
I like the concepts I have presented and your suggestions thus far and will keep revising as you like, but let's see if I can also develop something else to shake off the chase. :)
Do you prefer a more female profile? I was not sure if I should make it more ambiguous or make the gender more pronounced. I have been doing work for Bikram Yoga Folsom (which incidentally came through Logotournament) and I have learned that Bikram Yoga is making big gains drawing male members. I don't know how the market share breaks down, gender wise, but if you feel a more obvious female figure is the way to go just let me know and make the changes. :)
Hello we love what you have done. No we'd like the figure to be as neutral as possioble and really all we need from the figure in the heart entry 11, 44 is a more dramatic figure. The figure is very straight and we would like it to be more dramatic, more strong in the pose. We can say to look at other entries but if you can take a hint from the logo ahead of you you will get what you need! See how your arm goes straight out and the back leg and arm are too, see our instructor Corey: http://www.bikramyogashelton.com/site/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/IMG_0121.jpg see how she is curved and strong on the pose?
Thanks and we look forward to seeing the modifications!
I see what you mean. Not a problem what-so ever, reworking the pose for me is the easy part. :) It's the doing an over-all design that does not look like anyone else's that sometimes presents a challenge.
That's why I want to be sure that I'm giving you a unique look, even presenting different from my earlier entries. I will do several versions of that pose, please let me know in which of my entries you would like to see them. If you like I can switch them out for every entry, but that might clutter the contest and make it more difficult for you to sort out
If you have a photo (which you own) in particular that you would love to see, please let know the link, and I can do a version with it. I think it's fun when a client knows who the inspiration for the logo is. Is this photo of Cory one for which you own the full rights? If so, with your permission can I use her as the model. In the mean time I'll try a few on my own, drawings that is, I could only wish I was that flexible. :D
I changed the pose in the figure, but please don't hesitate to "art direct" this. Please let me know if you need the front hand tilted, arm higher/lower, back leg straighter, higher, more/less musculature... you name it. :)
Hi, Was the comment in the public area directed to me or another designer. I'm afraid that this will now give fodder for others to copy and believe me they will. When a CH makes a comment in the public area specifically to a designer, others will use that as an excuse, saying the CH asked everyone to do this, even when they know that the comment was directed to someone else. :(
Please let me know. I don't want to be one of those that takes advantage of an inadvertent mistake.
That's OK. It happens quite a bit, most have enough ethics to respect fellow designers, unfortunately many don't. The problem is that the email with the statement has gone out already to all the designers, so they will all see it.
If a CH says' "I like the butterfly you put in the design" within minutes, butterflies suddenly appear in other designs. Now if only one person used a butterfly, it's pretty easy to figure out who the comment was directed to. Yet, others will say, it was a public comment so we all get to use it. Absolutely frustrating for honest designers.
Anyway regarding the torso, should it be more parallel to the ground? Thanks!
Got it. I'm working on it right now. Do you have color preference for the heart? Also is there a particular entry you want to see the changes incorporated into?
11 and 44 Purple Heart more a mulberry if possible Try letters in more neutral or brown and all same color I like a line on either side of Shelton as opposed to scroll Try 156 no green, no heart around figure and make o more an o but a heart within it more subtle. Maybe lotus shape that mulberry color
OK, I uploaded a few before I read this. Is the figure better. I lowered the torso, raised the hand to eye level, brought the back hand lower on the ankle and I also noticed that Cory has a slight curvature on her standing leg, so I did a slight curvature to the drawing too. Is that better?
I uploaded the one with a few different font option. I took some examples of a few styles to see if there is a preference. Also, take a look at this link: http://www.dafont.com/theme.php?cat=103
There is a Custom Preview window where you can put in the Bikram Yoga (I usually do it in both upper and lower case and all caps. If you see something you like let me know the name of the font and we'll try it. :)
In the mean time, I'll also look. Thanks, I really appreciate all the feedback.
It's better, is there a way to make the lotus petals look more like a lotus? More soft and curved so it doesn't look so graphic? And possibly a little more brown in the words and I do like the lines on either side.
I'll work on it tomorrow for you. I'll soften the corners a bit, but if it's OK, I think that the it should remain a bit stylized so that the figure does not becomes too secondary to the lotus... hope that makes sense. :)
I won't be upset. Sometimes we just need to see it. There are plenty of times that I thought that something may not be the best approach, but then am pleasantly surprised it works great. Other times it takes seeing it to know the first way works better. :)
I see I'm dealing with another night owl of sorts, based on the times between comments. lol. OK this one is cutting out for now, but will be back a bit later. Thanks!
Can we please see #189 with a slightly more "rounded" and clean font, along with that the lettering to be a bit more brown, and we like the line on either side of "Shelton"
Hi I looked at the site and here are some fonts I like bolton sans FHA modernized ideal classicNC DK fledermaus walkway geo sans light kai boris black bloxx lane anejo
Got it. Please allow me a bit of time. Ubfortunately it's not as easy as just changing the type. I need to adjust the kerning by hand (the space between each letter). Most fonts require this and not doing it is the difference between a professionally done job and a job that was not. I get them uploaded ASAP. :)
