Entry #55: Hi - nice job on the logo. We may use foil for part or all the colors, depending on the costs. I will need to keep it down to one color for my cartons and letterhead boxes but will use full-color for brochures, envelopes, letterheads and business cards. Would it be a lot of trouble to use some more vibrant colors?
hi.. .thanks for your comment... I used those colors because down they are transparent ones with each others... I'll try to send some variation with more vibrant colors... the logo is done with Illustrator and is all vectors... and I suppose that if you are in the printing business you know what I'm talking about... I mean that we/you can change anything anytime
about the foil printing then I suppose that the best is the b&w version that I sent... but I'll try to send other one where the "sheets" (they are sheets actually :)) are all black that maybe could be better.... I don't know too much about foil printing, but I think that gradiations could be difficult
We also like the gold but if we use that version we wouldn't use a black background (the black reverse doesn't work well on envelopes, for instance). Do you have an idea of how we could make that work?
We would still use a full-color version on brochures but the gold really looks rich.
Great! We also like 129 & 139. Could we leave the black outline but place it against a white background (same design but without the black background)?
hi... you are right about the black envelopes... one system that I used sometimes was to "elevate" the symbol (sorry about my lack of vocabulary in English) like engraved and the text with tint... and sometimes both... elevated and printed.... but I don't know if you can do that for envelopes... I think that if you want the gold version for the envelopes the best is to print with gold tints (pantone metals)... I did sometimes and works very nice
I sent some variations to you to see how the logo works with different tints and backgrounds...
hi... well, #129 with white background is actually the #140... I did not use the same gradient in the text because is not legible actually (at least at the resolution that LT uses) #142 is the #139 with white background
I like the transparency where the sheets meet of #55. I think I'd prefer darker, maybe jewel tone, colors.
I think #122 loses the fact that these are sheets of paper because there is no tranparency where the sheets meet. Flattening the sheets (less angle) might also help.
127 & 129 remind me of a bird, a phoenix. We would probably not be able to use on a black background, although on black, it looks like there is a black outline between the sheets that I cannot see on the white background of 148.
On 148, I'd also like the point where the sheets meet to look like #55.
57 is a good representation in b/w.
I appreciate the work you've done, and hope we can tweak these a bit more. Thanks.
hi.. I sent some variations... anyway just comment that about the lines that separates the "sheets" and that maybe are not appreciate well here there are not problem... we can change anytime the line weight.. just that here in LT the images are so small and reduced and is difficult to appreciate exactly how the design is...
also I sent other designs.. I hope you like them... anyway just comment to you that if you are not sure about if what you see is what you want you can extend some days the contest (these days a lot of designers are out)
oh... I'm sorry... well you know that the designer ranked first can always send new revisions.... so if you want that some other designer sends variations you just need to rank that designer first and ask for and after return the designer to his/her original ranking
