Just now seeing this comment. Yes, Pantone 294 is boring...that's what America Online's original logo was when I did design work for them.

Can you make the N, E & W compass points a bit more prominent? Maybe they pierce/break the outer edge of the circle...perhaps with the point inside a "keystone" shape? Just tossing out ideas. Thanks.

Hmmm...I like the extra detail of the two lines and the white space between helps the soldier's head stand out.

Just had a thought: What about making the compass like the bezel on a Breitling wristwatch? The points are "contained" within two circles/rings?

More or less, yes. I REALLY like the round vs the triangular shape.

The points on the compass aren't quite right... You're definitely headed in the right direction. Right now they look too spiky like a medieval weapon. Just thinking off the top of my head here...
- How about trying the compass points/directions as arrows rather than points? Something more of a HINT rather than a sharp point?...
- Another designer tried something with the N, E, S and W letters and the letters were too obvious and detracted from the rest of the design. But I still need it to be clear that it's a compass.
- Would it look good to try the compass/points "faded" a bit in the background?

I'm being picky so I'm gonna upgrade this competition another $50. Thanks for your responsiveness and hard work!

I'm thinking just simple/subtle but I'm open to either. I just don't want the compass to overpower the rest of the design. Definitely want the American flag to remain.

Just got a suggestion from my partner: Could you show us a compass instead of the triangle? Maybe not the entire compass but just elements of a compass. Part of what our Battle Buddies program does is to help soldiers/veterans find "direction" in their lives, so the right image of a compass could demonstrate that perfectly. Am I being clear with this? Thanks!

i think you are talking about PANTONE 294 C ...but...i find that particular color a bit... dull...i'll prepare a version.

i have used a navy blue shade here.
if there is a particular blue you'd like me to use...please...

Could you show me a different shade of blue for some of the elements? I'd like to make sure the soldier and dog stand out so maybe change them to a royal blue (sorry, I can't find my Pantone book) and keep the rest dark blue, or the reverse. Thank you.
