getting there. Yes. A small bit of deterioration on the corners of the orange might be cool. Like the umber starting to cake a bit. Also try a couple of different fonts. And maybe (if its not too complicated) a ghosted image of something from the 1930s inside the gray and orange blocks.
the deterioration in the "cigar" itself detracts from the fact that the logo doubles as cigar, so I don't think that works. However a different font (like in 237) with some deterioration might be in the right direction. Something more vintage.
Also try putting some grain in the "skin" or leathery texture in the shaft of the cigar.
A couple of people on our team have wondered if it would be possible to integrate some type of "vintage" looking details. Our décor will be turn of the century/industrial revolution styled. (1920-1938) So, you can see why I like the logo i ranked next to yours. See if you can do a version that bridges the gap between your modern take and the vintage one. Thanks.
Also try stretching the black part back a bit to simulate the shaft of a cigar. Try a brownish time form the color palat I uploaded to suggest the brown wrapper of a cigar.
Consider adding more breathing room on the sides of “ASH”
-Try a sans-serif font
-a more vintage typeface perhaps or some visual cue that gives it a distinct personality.
-Possibly check the color contrast between the lighter gray and the orange
-There’s a legibility issue with the words on the bottom. Couple possible option:
