Thanks Paul. We're praying for great things for As One. I saw some of your work on your profile. I like what you did for astropreneur and for Terra Works Aquarium. What would you do if you did not include the word fellowship? Or, if you did include it, to make it a base upon which As One sits, like the word aquarium in the Terra Works piece. I like the font that you used with astropreneur. It's quite modern, clean, and progressive. Maybe not that exact font, but feel to be creative I like the puzzle piece theme. Maybe we can have a cross or the number one in there somehow? These are just some ideas I'm throwing out. Don't be afraid to add dimension and depth. We are a group of young adults who are into design, fashion, and trends, so the same approach that you've taken to your best business logos will work for us! Also, you could do as one in lowercase letters. I think that's enough for now. . .whew!
Paul I like #10. It picks up on exactly what I had in mind. I would need a space between the as and one so that people know that they are two different words, but we can always revise that in the later stages. Are those people with their hands raised on both sides of the cross? On #11, I'm not quite sold on the puzzle with the missing piece theme. I'm thinking that the icon should be able to stand alone and still be overtly Christian (like on twitter). Can we do a puzzle piece with all pieces added (no piece coming from outside) but with a cross (somehow integrated) in the middle of the puzzle perhaps?
Paul, I've been getting great feedback on #10 just to let you know. As far as the new ones, I like the idea of putting the cross in the middle, but the two little heads is a bit too "busy" for me. I'm wondering if we could combine the puzzle motif and the cross somehow to make not just a mosaic cross, because that's kind of cliche, but maybe a combination of the puzzle and cross? Maybe have the puzzle with a cross missing in the middle that says "Jesus is the missing piece" that makes us fully one. And then have that light shiny thing that's going on in #11 be in place of the cross. Or find a way to outline the shape of a cross. . .am I making any sense??? I like the color palette on #6 and #12 also. I"m not sure about #45 yet. Thanks!
I'm out of town for the day. I'll check back in on your contest via mobile today, but cant do any updates until later tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for all of the feedback. It truly aids the process.
Paul, not sure I like the color selection on the new logo (the cross seems green heavy - I'd rather it be more blue heavy. I like the as one in the colors you had before (the blue and red). The new cross may be a little too whimsical. What would it look like with the puzzle theme you have going but with the cross in a more traditional shape?
Paul we've got two days to go. . .I know I've been all over the place, and I'm ready to bring this thing home. If you can commit to really working with me for these last two days, I know that we can make something happen on this. I seem to be kind of chasing my tail. Getting close, but can't quite seem to get there. I think you can get me there. . .
This does not imply any outside private arrangement of any type according to my contract with logo tournament. All I am saying is that if I can get your commitment, you certainly have mine that I will not waste your time and that we can get to where I'm trying to go.
Glad to help. (Today was my little girls birthday party, so I was unavailable.) I will be in my studio some after church tomorrow and all day on Monday. I'll make your project a priority.
I'm thinking of trying to make the cross a little less "futuristic" in #48 and #10 and more simple. Here are some examples of some aesthetics that I like: http://churchrelevance.com/resources/top-church-logos/ They're different but all seem to have this postmodern/minimalist type thing going on. Not sure what I would call that. Do any of these resonate with you at all?

OK...Also - I generally recommend horizontal layouts. The fit better in headers etc. That's why so many of mine are that way. Also you may want to consider a subtle color scheme in similar color families. (If you notice the logos referred in your link above they are often simple colors.) The reason I say this is when it comes time for website, print marketing etc. Its MUCH easier and cleaner to make it all flow when you limit the palette.
I'm going to go back and add the colors requested to let you see which works best for you.
Just thought of something. #150 - look at how the cross looks all woven together. What if instead of having the short pieces in #147 and #146, we did a whole tapestry cross. And then put it above the as one fellowship because the base will be too wide to fit between the as and the one.
Let's put the cross in #158 on top so that it doesn't seem like it reads, "tasone". One of my friends pointed that out to me on another design which is why I've been putting them above.
I like the tapestry in #157 and #158. Let's play with the colors--can we use the colors from the Akron Free Methodist church logo that I sent, or from cross roads? (from the weblink) Something with the earth tones? And then can we adjust the font so that it is closer to something like granger community church or Tapestry church? If you have any custom font that you can do, that will work also. The As One could be in Black, and the fellowship could be in one of the colors from the cross icon. Let me know what you think!
Also, can I see #156 with the regular writing? The writing on it looks blurry, although I know what you were going for.
Paul, let's try and bring this home. If you're locked in on Monday and have time to go back and forth with me, I think we can try and wrap this up so that we have it by Tuesday morning. Now, what colors did you have in mind from your comment on March 3rd at 3:11pm? Are you saying that the earth tones would not work? Also, I would need one of these in black and white and grey where there are different gradations so that the diversity in the tapestry comes thru even when it is printed in black and white.
By Tuesday morning I meant that we would then be in the judging phase where you could still revise but you'd obviously have the #1 rank and would be the unofficial winner.
I like the colors from the Cross Roads logo *A LOT* They work great in this concept. Clean. modern. etc. I also chose a bold/readable font, that has a softness to it as well.
I'm not feeling that font. I wanted something closer to the minimalist stuff they're doing on that church logos site. You had a similar font on your Chico College design. That kind of real simple quite modern writing. Akron, Christ church florida, city church of olive branch, emmaus church, new city church, northplace church, northstar, tapestry, the cause, the shore, are all doing a variation of this real minimalist font. Not sure what you call that.
I'm not sure I like the new colors. . .can we try #158 with the colors from #46 or from the butterfly one that you did for me (more earthy green, grey, blue, and red tone) just to see with the original fonts. These colors look very West Coast (where I'm from) - Nashville has a lot of dull, overcast days. I may need to stay with the darker colors. . .we'll see. Thanks!
Let's try #158 in the colors of #176. Can we make the purple strip in the cross just a little longer on the bottom? Still waiting on any other font suggestions. One more different thought that I had was if we could make the "as" in as one a capital A and S but keep it at the same height perhaps.
The font choice is the same as the Chico contest. Its just lower case, with the bold and thin applications of the font. I've submitted some with an all caps variation.
Sometimes a font also appears more minimal if kept a dark gray. This also helps the logo jump out and stand on its own. My design preference is to work with fonts in dark gray. Though often the client does prefer the colored wordmark. :)
Let's do #187 (with the new longer piece that I like) with the tapestry style of #158. Let's do the dividing line like in #181. Either way, we are going with this color palette. I'm still trying to get the font fixed. How about As One written in regular black like this "As One" so we have the difference between the caps and lower case in a font like "granger community church" or "tapestry church." Another idea is to just do the font from #158, but do it with caps and lowercase.
Everything is great. . .except for the As One wordmark. The fonts look too "computery." Looking for something a little more personal - almost like someone could do with very neat handwriting.
I have uploaded several more. I'm drawn to #194 and #201, although they all match the icon pretty well...and that's a huge key.
Also another option that might help is that you can visit http://www.fontspace.com/ and see if there are any fonts there that jump out. I always download them and add them to the design.
Thanks for your hard work in this process. If your up against a deadline (You mentioned Tuesday earlier) I would be willing to continue tweaking the font after the contest if need requires. I want to make sure this is perfect, but I don't want to hold you up either.
Let's put a space between As and One on the wordmark on #195, and try making the fellowship the blue that is in the cross. In #194 let's try making the one blue just to see something different. Thanks!
