how about this?

It looks too much like a buried city or that the skyline is eating away at the dirt. We were hoping to add buildings in a way that blends into the logo without adding too much additional complexity.

I really like this. Now it needs a little bit more "corporate" so we don't look like a landscaping company. some ideas: put a cityscape at the bottom of the tree, somehow combine the tree with a building?

Try using shapes that imply "growing" more than "boomerang"

so what next?

Really liking the type treatment and the green accents. Not 100% in love with the little person crossing the A since it wouldn't stand alone as a square version which we need frequently for social media. That said, this is a great direction and very solid start!
