Hi Mogeek, thank you for your entry! I've looked at your portfolio and I'm very impressed with your designs - I appreciate you taking a crack at this design.
Couple of things I'd like to see tweaked.
1. The kind of kayaks we use are sit-on-top ocean kayaks. The boat illustrated looks more like a wooden canoe. The kayaks used are more sleek and exhibit a little more modernity than a canoe. To be specific, if you google an image of an Ocean Kayak or visit this website, you'll see exactly the kind of kayaks we use: http://www.oceankayak.com/kayaks/
2. It's not a necessity we include mangroves into the design. I wanted to give a feel of that, but the inclusion of that is not really jumping out at me. However, the trees do not actually like the depiction of mangroves.
3. The font gives me the feel of a Jolly Roger type pirate cruise or booze cruise and not that of an organized adventure. Looking for a different feel in this department.

Mogeek - I've spoken with my Dad about this design and he feels this is a great first start. He loves the colors and has visions of this type of logo on the back of a tee shirt. Good first start!
revised a bit here... the boat is more true to form of a ocean kayak with a sleeker/more rounded nose... its fun, adventurous, has a nice visual appeal, pretty simple but descriptive... it makes me want to take an eco-kayaking tour, then buy a t-shirt... an aesthetic you might not capture if you go towards the flat/serious colors & more abstract representations...
