I like the "ak" design but I'm not sure what the circle above the k means . . .

I love the design, but the fountain pen works because it can be added to the "A" as a design element, as in some of the other examples. As a stand-alone element, is too old fashioned, since I don't actually use a pen. It's a great design, though!
