My concept: the alchemists hat is also an A. The bubbles represent a boiling formula, but also the thinking process.

Thanks for your contribution here. I really appreciate it. I like the colors that you chose for the first example. I'm concerned that people might mistake the Alchemist's hat for a witch's hat and I don't think that the bubbles work here. I would be concerned how they would register in a B&W version. They might look like ink splotches instead of something intentional.
