A little late to the party, but I really wanted to join the contest. Unfortunately I only had an hour to make a sketch of the Ibex profile (actually 3/4 view since I feel it makes the illustration/logo a bit more dramatic). I can further develop the Ibex in a more finished look as well as add a straight facing version in the next phase.
I was not sure what if any features distinguishes a hybrid Ibex from other species. I looked at several Nubian and Persian hybrid, but outside of maybe straighter horns and smaller ears, there was not much in terms of physical features that separates one from the other. I'm guessing there is more to it than I can see. :)
Please feel free to leave feedback and suggested changes. Also you can visit my profile/portfolio page to see if there is another direction you may want me to try,
I was hoping to get some feedback to make sure that the ibex is correctly illustrated. I don't know if the hybrid has some distinguishing features. (Should the ears be more deer like?) I tried to keep the design simple but still realistic with these more polished versions so that they would not appear cluttered or get muddied in print due to dot gain. Also, I wanted to up-play the Ibexes by enlarging them so that they stand out.
Please get back to me with any revisions. I can also do a more stylized and/or cartoony version if that is preferred.
I'm not sure if you can see the top ones iv picked. I like sharp and edgey. The one thing I can't get the others to understand is I want to be able to see all of the ibex horns on the left and right. But not having them face totally to the left and right. Thanks!
Thanks for the feedback. I made the ibexes a bit more stylized with sharper edges. I tried a few options on the horns but felt that some appeared somewhat like bamboo unless I added a bit of roughness to them. I also stylized the face with sharper edges but still kept them resembling Ibexes. I kept the two outside ibexes in a 3/4 view so that all 3 pairs of horns are visible and in correct perspective.
How to you feel about the font and the rest of the emblem? Any changes? I can add more elements, but it starts to look a bit busy and could also create the ink to fill (dot gain) at smaller sizes as well as make the ibexes difficult to see.
Can you put diffrant border? The flag/ribbon on the top is not really what I'm looking for. Can you pull both of the side ibex out so there horns don't go behind the front ibex? Thanks! I really like your work!
I have a few options more based on your request. Because the contest is in "judging" mode only first place can keep entering. In order to have a "Submit" button available, you need to place a designer in first rank and then you can re-rank after the upload. Admin will be glad to help if you have any questions on how it works.
