Hello Klaus - here is one idea. I'm submitting the design with two different fonts for the "USG" so you can compare. I would love to work with you on this, please let me know your thoughts.

Best,
Ignacio

Hi Ignacio,

I'm happy for your entries - they are beautiful. To start with I like the fluidity of the figure and the colors. The fonts used on both #21 and #22 are ok, but not exactly the style we are looking for. Mainly they are a little on the narrow side. The name must be unambiguous which means we cannot use the G in no. 21.
As for the font under USG that one seems fine.

Back to the icon. The orientation of our logo should be horisontal (please reference entry #8)
Also often times we need to print and embroider the logo this would be difficult to achieve a good stay on result with the dots even though I like the concept.

One of the avenues that we also are trying to get into our logo is the academic angle - could the outline of the dots represent a book or something similar (i am not the creative here).

I am very pleased with your ideas keep it up - I would love for us to find the spot on right logo.

Cheers

Thanks Klaus for the feedback - you've provided some very important information. I will rework the design and upload some variations for your consideration.

Thanks again,

Hello Klaus - here is a variation. I've added a stylized book behind the human form while retaining the main sphere. I've made the design horizontal and change the font so it's very clear. I've also kept the colors to brown and blue. Looking forward to your thoughts. Thank you!

Hi Ignacio,
#26 I like the design you've made. You have made a good application of a book, but lost some of the symmetry of the design. Could it be made more clear that it is a book and perhaps in symmetry. The USG-font is better but lacks some of the modern feel you get from the narrower designs in your first draft.
I will be signing of now, but return tomorrow with more comments. Have a good day.
Thank you for understanding my garbled instructions it looks really good already.

Hey there - here is another variation. I made the icon symmetrical, though the "book" might be too stylized, you can let me know on that. I also went back to one of the original fonts but I customized the "g" so that it was more legible. Looking forward to your thoughts.

Thank you -
Ignacio

Hey Ignacio, good work on the icon - and yes I agree the "book" looks too stylized. If I didn't know better I might mistake it for wings - even though your concept is spot on in many a sense. Could it be made clearer that it is a book and not wings without loosing the fluidity and ease of the icon??

The font improvement is also way better. I will keep commenting throughout the upcoming weekend and on Monday I will gather a meeting among my colleagues to present the ideas that have come in.

Hello Klaus - Here is a variation with a more literal book. I kept in mind the different applications, embroidery, etc., and the way the book interacts with the icon. Please let me know your thoughts.

Thank you!

Hi Ignacio,

thank you very much. This seems to be the best design yet in the competition. Could you try with a different color for the figure and book so that they do not seem to be related physically? I really like it so far and will keep commenting.

Thanks Klaus -

I will work on some color variations and upload so you can compare. I understand that you want to keep it to three colors so I will work within that frame. If you think otherwise, please let me know.

Thank you!

Hi Ignacio,

first of - thanks very much you do amazing work. Regarding the color I am not completely sure as to what would be the best combination. I like the separation of the book and figure colors even though they are closely related in tone as in #31 and #33 - could you try and change the figure from brown to e.g. blue and/or grey and the book in brown and/or blue/grey? The red firgures (#32 and #34) are not my favorites. But as I wrote earlier I really need to take the colorchoice in plenum with my colleagues tomorrow. But I would like of course to bring as many suggestions to the table as possible.
Regarding the number of colors to be used - please use as many as you deem necessary to get the best out of your design - I would love to see what you can do with colors. Your portfolio suggests a little bit of magic.

Hey there Klaus -

Thank you for your feedback. I'll work on some additional color choices and open the color palette to more than three colors. Through the course of the evening, I'll upload some additional variations so you can compare with your colleagues tomorrow.

Thanks again and thanks especially for being so communicative throughout the processs.

Best,
Ignacio

Hello Klaus - I've opened the color palette as we discussed and am submitting some variations. If it's helpful, we can "marry" elements of one design with another. Just let me know. Thank you!

Hi Ignacio,

we have had our little soiré and I have gotten some feedback. Some of the guys would like a logo that is simple and that symbolizes sports and movement. As you can see from my ranking I am still rooting for us to find the right solution as I find your contributions to be the most innovative. They asked if we could see the logo w/o the circle in one version preferably with the colorcombination from #40 also make the face in one solid color so that we loose a possible reference to a swimcap and thereby mistaking the logo for a swimteam logo.
Another version could maybe have a little bit of torso on the figure -again to draw away from the reference to swimming and instead pull the image towards celebrating movement.
And if you can find the energy to maybe make a version where you replace the book (I really would like to keep it though) with something similar to #21 but more solid that will do well on clothes print.

The font was unfortunately disliked - they would like something more beefy and with character - is that possible?

Cheers - I look very much forward to seeing this through to the end with you

Hello Klaus -

Thank you for your feedback. I will upload some variations based on your comments. My only concern is finding the right font. As you can imagine, there are thousands to choose from. I will pick a couple that I think might work, but if you come across anything you like, please let me know.

If you have the time, you or anyone on your team can go to www.fonts.com and see if anything fits.

Thank you!

Hi Ignacio,

as I said I love the work you have done. The latest input given to me was regarding the figure in the picture. Some of my colleagues would like to keep the emphasis on movement rather than winning (which is how they associate with the figure). Could you keep the book and change the figure - or even change the concept so that it moves toward the lettering?
My boss, sighed and said something like "I know it is probably not possible, but..." he would like the logo to signify movement and team - do you have a brilliant idea how to achieve that?

I'll keep pushing your progressive agenda and hope your design will get accepted by my peers.

Klaus
p.s. the font we will figure out when the icon is good and ready.

Hello Klaus - Thank you for your feedback. I'll give it some thought and upload some other ideas. But can you shed some light as far as the movement you're looking for? Perhaps associate it with a sport? That will give me a much better idea as to the way to treat the figure and move it closer to what your organization is looking for.

Best,
Ignacio

PS - good strategy as far as the font.

Hello Klaus - I've regrouped somewhat and rethought the design based on your last feedback. Here, I've added two figures who are moving as if running, though they could be playing football. The two figures and the larger figure represent "team". I also added "swooshes" on either side of the larger figure to indicate some additional movement. The figure now reminds me somewhat of when a coach or lead player wave their arms to the crowd to encourage enthusiasm and applause. I also did something a little different with the ring so the figures popped a little more.

I hope your team likes this. Let me know your thoughts.

Thank you!

Hi Ignacio,

unfortunately I lost the argument. I really love your style and ideas. I have my own company where I will hold a contest for my own logo. I would like to personally invite you to participate in that one. My plan is to hold the competition in August of this year. Hope you are still game even though I cannot help feeling that I let your designs down on this one.

Cheers
