I definitely understand the perspective from which this came, and I like that the logo would remain strong as a small icon. Some friends said it feels too masculine, and I feel like it would work for an upscale catering company as it feels more corporate. I'm hoping it could feel more "personal" as that is a key element to the events i plan. thank you so much!

Clean and bold is the key here. Something that can be easily branded (even as a small icon and not loose its strength) and used on numerous placements from print to web.

The treatment of the S and the E is so creative! It's really clean and unique. It may be too "stiff" but I'd like to run it by some colleagues and get their thoughts too.
