I like the way you are going with #9. Can you keep the bold don't like you have but instead of making the E look like steps take that concept and make a more defined icon? I like the simple colors and design of #9 but would like to see an icon variations. The system we have is just two simple steps so maybe you can incorporate the look and feel of a process into some of those icon variations.
