What We Do
Stucco Films offers cinematic creativity amidst a vast and rapidly expanding industry of cookie cutter productions.
Industry
Media
Color Preferences
No yellow, purple, green, or orange.

Generally, we've talked about bold black & white logos, but have also considered if 1 or 2 hard colors were used to make the image "pop", that may also be interesting.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
We like the look of stucco texture (dry or wet) and would like to see it incorporated into the logo in a unique way.
However, we are still open to designs not incorporating stucco.
Themes
Masculine
Gray

Logo Designer
Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ You, the Client, are very important! Your active participation is the single greatest factor influencing this contest. Active participation by you, the Client, helps you get the logo design you want!
~~ What's active participation? It's updating the brief with more information for Designers to work with as the contest progresses, providing feedback to Designers on their entries when they're submitted, and ranking designs at least once a day.
~~ When you provide feedback to Designers, you increase the chances of getting the logo you want. More feedback = better results!
~~ Leave private feedback by clicking on a design. Feedback will be made public upon contest completion.
~~ Rank designs at least once each day -- this will encourage Designers to submit more entries!
~~ Ranking prevents your contest from going idle! Active contests attract more Designers.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed. Unless your contest is Private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Please note: if you're asking for a design that will require several hours to create, to attract Designers willing to invest that amount of time the prize should be at least $400-$500. All "Character" style logos fall into this category.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested." We'd like to know what you don't want so we can give you the design you do want.
~~ The first phase of the contest is the "Open" phase, and everyone can submit during that time.
~~ After your contest's initial "Open" phase closes, it will enter the "Top 5" phase; only the top 5 ranked Designers will be able to submit revisions at that time.
~~ The "Top 5" Designers are the first 5 Designers in a contest, not the first 5 designs.
~~ When "Top 5" ends, the "Judging" phase begins. The Designer of the 1st place design will be the only Designer who can submit revisions at that time.

Thank you for all the great submissions so far!

As you can see, based on ranks, apparently we don't mind a minor splash of color as much as we originally stated/thought we did. It seems to really make the logo standout in a good way, so thanks to all the designers who pushed ahead despite, and opened our eyes to that. We would still like the majority of the logo to be monochrome, but some very minimal/well placed color is a preference now too.
...been liking the deep brick red and dark/dirty yellow so far.

Some things to stay away from:
-- Black backgrounds: Although admittedly, some of them look great, they're really just very limited in use for us. We need a logo that can stand on its own without the need for a specific background.

-- Film strips: We're not entirely opposed to the film strip icon (a lot of the top 10 are using it as of now), but it is a very overused logo design in our industry. We really pride ourselves on not putting out standard "cookie cutter" productions; working hard to come up with and get very difficult/interesting shots for every scene of our videos, and we want a logo that embodies that mentality of thoughtful creativity. If you use a film strip, it has to be done in a way that's that much more creative, to make up for the typical-ness of the icon.
That being said, we do like some of the more abstract representations of a film strip when coupled with other concepts/imagery. Basically, we just don't want to look at the logo and instantly see/think "film strip".

-- Letters: We don't want our logo to JUST be an "S" or an "SF". Granted, the "S" inside the "F" is really creative and cool! I've never seen that before. But for us to settle on a letter based logo, it really needs to be coupled with more (stucco texture/wall, film, etc..).
Really, we're looking for a standalone image that would be "the logo", to be accompanied with the text of our name.

Lastly, and perhaps most definitely, we really want to see the stucco incorporated into these designs more. It can be a stucco wall, it can be your design in stucco texture, it can be a cube of stucco, etc... etc...
One of the reasons we picked "stucco" as a name (aside from liking the way it sounds) is because as a material it decorates, protects, and textures the real architecture beneath. In the same sense, we do that with products, events, stories, etc, that we film. As a literal example, one of our old video intros was a person taking a picture and then that scene freezes and solidifies as stucco.
Long story short, please try to incorporate stucco into every design.

THINKING ALOUD:
We'd be interested to see some more 3-dimensional logos for the image portion of the logo. Not in a super modern sense, with smooth edges and computerized shading.. But just in the sense of a 3-dimensional object seen from 1 perspective. I'll be perfectly honest, we don't know what that would look like, or if we'd like it, but we'd like to explore the possibility.
If it turns out it's not our preference I will leave a comment saying so quickly, so you don't have to keep experimenting in that direction.

Here are some other ideas for "film imagery":
›› Lense crosshairs (google "looking through a camera")
›› Aperture/shutter
›› Camera
›› A Lense
›› Hands framing a scene
›› Silhouette of 2 people working on a film/holding film equipment/etc.. (we are a 2 man company at our core)

Thank you for all your submissions and hard work, it's really appreciated! We've been very excited these past 2 days and can't wait to see more!!

Thank you for all the submissions!
At this point, we still looking for a clear winner. We like the designs more on the creative side that steer away from the designs you might find on a Google images search. We would like to see more designs that incorporate the camera lens, aperture, camera body (old school film camera or new digital Arri, RED and DSLR cameras), designs must incorporate the look or texture of stucco. We thank you for all your hard work and cant wait to see what all you designers can come up with. Thank you so much!

There were a lot of really great creative designs all around. We were continually impressed through the whole competition. Went into this with a vague idea of some concepts and came out with a finished logo we really love.
Feels like we definitely came to the right place!

Thank you to everyone for all your hard work and creativity, it's really appreciated!! Seriously... can't thank you enough!

...and
Congratulations to BiZiGrapik for the winning entry!!
That guy went through a ton of revisions/nit-picking to get us exactly what we wanted. In the end he delivered just what were looking for.

Best regards,
