What We Do
We are an internet company creating, operating and marketing own, mostly community-based, web projects.
Industry
Internet
Color Preferences
Our company color is a bright red (RAL 3020, CMYK 0, 100, 100, 10) which should at least appear in the logo. Contrasting colours could be white, grey and/or black tones.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
Our Ideas and additional information:
Fliks has two divisions: "Fliks GmbH" in Germany, "gmbH meaning the kind of legal entity of our company in Germany. In South Africa, its "Fliks Media (Pty) Ltd."
Fliks is a company that has very few customers and whose projects do mostly have their own branding/logo. Therefore, the fliks logo represents our company itself alone. The logo will appear on the web mostly on contact information pages, offline on businesscards and letters. Therefore it should be readable in small sizes, too.

"Fliks" is a made up word resembling the german words "flink" or "fix", wich associates to "quick", "alert", "fast". Therefore the logo should represent a dynamic, fast acting, leading company in a rapidly developing IT/mediabased business field, competence as well als open-mindedness.

Internally, it also should stand for our unity/community/alliance.

Our core competences are SEO, Community Management, Web2.0, PHP/MySQL. We're hosting optimized, high traffic websites like the redirector service anonym.to as well as specialist (news)sites like the german mac magazine macnotes.de. As recognized by the company names, we also operate international the non-virtual way in germany as well as in south africa.

Finally, we're in the internet business for more than 10 years now, therefore we don't want to be associated with new startups from the web2.0-boom.

Ideas and recent logos:

We always used "brackets" or symbols reminding brackets in our recent logos, symbolizing internal unity.

Brackets on the sides of 'fliks' look rather limiting and we all know that possibilities on the Internet are unlimited, that's why we eliminated nearly all entries with side-brackets.

We'd love to see some darker badge-style logos and if the logo leaves some space for additional small-print text (for full company name like "Fliks GmbH" or "Fliks Media (Pty) Ltd." we'd be happy to see more suggestions with this flexibility.

Some information on how rankings work on this site:

How to Rank and Thank Designers: When it comes time for final rankings, designers appreciate when you choose the top three CONCEPTS (as opposed to variations of the same design) for the gold, silver and bronze awards. If you want to rank two different concepts by the same designer in the top three, that's fine.
Also, rank as many entries as possible, because designers get points added to their overall site standing for each blue ribbon they get.

This is how points are distributed:

1st place - 50 points
2nd place - 20 points
3rd place - 10 points
4-6th place - 5 points
7-10 place - 3 points

After that, each ranked entry gets one point for the designer. Nobody will be insulted by being ranked last, the points are still good! So if you pull some entries out of the "Not Interested" group and give them a rank, the designer gets some benefit from entering your contest.

Hope that's helpful, lots of contest holders don't realize this and most are glad to know. It's a good way to thank designers who don't win the contest prize, but who worked very hard to offer you lots of options to choose from for a great logo.

#45 was one of our favourites, but a moderator decided that it was too similar to the picture http://www.coffeeday.com/freshnground/images/coffee_day_logo.gif which I think is ridiculous. Of course they are similar, but there's some substantial difference: The bow of the fliks draft ended in the corner, while coffeeday.gif has a border on top and a completely different shadowing/finish.

Moderators: please allow this Entry to take part and unblock it!

Hello, everyone,

First: many thanks for all the great work - the winning entry was now one of the first favourites delivered, but it was not an easy choice (you may have noticed the lag in our decision - sorry for that!).
Then: thanks not only for a logo design but also for a lot of useful thoughts generated while the contest lasted - i guess we're a bit better aware now of our business, our image and how it can be described.

We do hope that it was a satisfying contest for you too - we were a bit overwhelmed sometimes from the creative input which is given here, and maybe that was recognizeable ;o)

Again, thanks a lot, and thanks especially to tankdesign, who did a great job here.
