What We Do

BrandNg is a personal blog with commentary on marketing, branding, advertising and general business. The name is a play on words: my name is Eric Ng, so BrandNG refers both to the brands I talk about and to me and my so-called personal "brand."

The blog will be available at http://www.brandng.com

The logo itself should only use the single word "BrandNg" and should not include .com or reference to being a blog, etc. (unless it looks more ironic with those things!).

Top Three Things to Communicate

#1 - Should emphasize the quirky nature of the company name and the commentary
#2 - Should feel like a (faux) long-time established company
#3 - Should feel familiar, like an old trusted brand

Our Target Audience:

My readers will ideally be marketing, advertising and branding professionals in English speaking countries. These people tend to be young, intelligent, media savvy, cynical and funny.

Color Preferences

My preference is greyish blues and greyish browns. I am open to different colors, but would steer away from Green and Purple.

Please, no gradients or within the logo itself. It should be line art and solid color blocks only.

Our Ideas and Additional Information:

(1.) BrandNg is about brands and marketing, so ideally, this logo will feel familiar to the advertising community. It can borrow elements from other familiar logos, but obviously not to the extent of copyright violation. (2.) The mark should be more of a logo and less of a type treatment, something that might have a slightly retro feel (eg. Starbucks). It should feel permanent and lasting. (3.) By creating a feeling of something long-standing, the logo would naturally contrast with the fleeting nature of this late-to-the-market blog. It would create ironic tension for the quirky pun created by my last name and the name of my blog. (4.) I am mostly interested in Emblems and Characters, but would accept a pictoral mark as well. (5.) At least for the initial round, I am also open to changes to the capitalization within the word as well (eg. "BrandNg" or "BrandNG" or "Brandng")

Thanks for the entries everyone. I am impressed with the quality of work so far. A reminder that I'm not really looking for wordmarks. I am primarily looking at Emblems and Characters.

#31 - interesting direction. Can you show me what you'd do if it were on a white background?

#30 - what does the logo look like without the art? Did you draw the artwork yourself?
