How about some ideas with wildlife like Elk, Moose, Buffalo, etc? Or maybe some Petroglyphs or foot tracks?

Things to help focus us on!

Three favorite logos: www.backcountry.com, www.altrec.com, www.worldwildlife.org

Why:
1. Simple
2. Can be used anywhere from webpages to favicons to t-shirts and mugs.
3. Can be used on top of a solid color or a photograph boldly
4. One side logo, other side nice basic font.
5. Instantly recognizable.
6. These logos can be used as black, blue or any other solid color.

Please keep all entries of animals to those that you will in fact see in a US National Park or Monument. Zoos do not count. If you do not know what animals you can find in National Parks or Monuments, please only stick with buffalo, moose, bears or elk. If you do know of the many animals that do exist in them, then by all means, experiment.

Logo must be separate from name.

All animal entries must be full-bodied animals. No heads only which could be understood as "hunting".

Another example of a logo that we really like:
www.pacoutdoor.com/2008/index.cfm

It looks excellent in white. We have found that white looks best on top of photographs so this example is a very appealing option. This one also looks good in varied colors or all black.

A few more for ideas:

www.ibexwear.com/shop/index.php (the style is nice but whole body preferred)

We have decided that stacking our website name is fine up to 2 lines but no more than that please!

Thanks

We believe some are getting a little too focused on moose or eagle alone. Please don't think anything is ruled out. In fact, nothing is. When it comes down to it, everything that is ranked are good examples of what we are looking for.

Here is a list of common animals that we know many of our visitors love about US National Parks:

Bald Eagle (most recognized national symbol)
Bears (black and grizzly)
Moose
Bison
Deer
Elk
Squirrel
Chipmunk
Coyote
Mountain Lion
Wild Horse
Wolf

We are and have been open to more animals so as long as they look like good symbols. We don't want any designers getting caught up on just a moose or eagle. We have seen a few submissions of wolves but we just didn't think that particular logo worked for us. It doesn't mean a wolf isn't a good idea to work with.

Also, we are not stuck on only animals either! Mountains, trees, etc are also still important to us. We just don't want too many items on one logo. It gets too busy. Sweet and simple is what we are hoping for. Not too cutesy on the smaller animals.

All in all, we are still extremely open with 5 more days to go.

I hope some of this help.

#367 One of the many critters we all love when visiting our national parks. I figured a little park humor may not get a vote, but hope it brings gets a smile.

WingLeader, thanks for the chuckle. If you have ever been to Arches National Park, there are these flies that hover around this dry riverbed that make mosquitoes seem in fact pleasant!

We did have to remove it though since we don't want anyone getting the wrong idea. Mosquitoes definitely won't encourage people to go out and play!

brandito,

To make #377 work (flower which is nature), we would be switching the stars to white so the green flower shows up nicely.

Military doesn't have a flower as any logo. Postal service has a Eagle head.

We aren't the NPS so we want our own brand.

We loved the idea of an Owl on a branch, it is a great idea. However, we have stated we do not want logo built into the text. We did pick pictoral mark only as an option so built into the text wasn't what we desired.

We have never had a logo so that is why we came here so that designers could help us out with some good ideas! We are not are closed to anything or stuck on anything.

Designers,

We would like to say thank you for all of your entries and hard work. This has been an interesting 2 weeks and we went into this not knowing at all what we wanted or what to do. We had vague ideas and many of you really opened our eyes and our minds to some fantastic ideas. Thank you for some great thinking outside the box!

We did our best to keep up with so many submissions with comments and feedback and we regret that some of you slipped through the cracks. It is something that can't be changed at this point but we still thank each and every one of you for your submissions and efforts.

While the logos changed wildly to some, we did not want to discourage any bright ideas or efforts on any designers part. Because of this, we have a nice selection from a lot of hard work on your part.

Again, thank you and good luck on more contests to come and it has been fun working with so many of you.

Happy Trails,
