Scott--I love how #5 has the lopsided (and differently-sized eyes). Any chance you could try giving the squid more body (so I can more easily add different hats and facial hair), and making him a more neutral color (e.g. white) so the hats/hair will stand out?
Also, while I like the type from a stylistic standpoint, I'm concerned that because the ".by" is on the second line, the word "squid" is so prominent that the overall name gets lost a bit. Any chance you can keep it on one line, and maybe try a font treatment that's a bit more "cute" and less sci-fi?
