Discussion

Logo Designer
Hello,

The idea is to have a victory pose inside of an iconic shape. Any changes can be made (logotype, color etc.) so your feedback is highly appreciated.

Thank you,
Gabriel.

I like the concept, it's the kind of thing we are looking for. Great start! A few comments:

1) the image looks to us more like the guy is raising he's stretching, not like the 'thrill of victory'. If you search Google for 'thrill of victory' and choose images, you'll see a bunch of photos. Most are of athletes/mountain climbers with two hands in the air which is good. There is also one of Nadal with one hand is the air which might be interesting.

2) your logo looks a bit too much like the NBA logo (http://mingleberry.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/nba-logo.jpg). To a large extent the issue is the colors.

3) we want to change the colors for 3 reasons: a) avoid looking like NBA logo, b) we are not a US company and red/white/blue looks too much like USA, c) they don't match the look of the new site. Be sure to look at the new site colors at: http://betinternetsportsbook.com/sbr_mockup.png

4) the text part of the logo is uninspiring. Let's try some different text options. We can go two ways on this, and I'm not sure which way we prefer until we seem some designs. Either a more dramatic font effect with shading, colors, texture, etc., like some of the logos in this contest: https://logotournament.com/contests/bolgame

or a simplistic/minimalist approach like logos for covers.com or accuscore.com or espn.com.

Hello,

Thanks so much for the feedback, i will start designing a new concept immediately. I observed that the link provided (http://betinternetsportsbook.com/sbr_mockup.png) isn't working, either it's a spell error or i have restricted country access to it, which i doubt :).

Several newer versions of the logo will follow soon, i am waiting for the proper link in order to access and see the color scheme.

Tipping my hat to you,
Gabriel.

Hello,

The victory thrill trace is done by a picture of which i owe full rights. Any feedback is highly appreciated.

Have a nice day,
Gabriel.

Gabriel, I like this, but a few things:

1) While I think the new thrill image is great, my partners are leaning towards the more iconic depiction that is done on the logo I ranked first. Perhaps you can try something like that too. I do like the one you have now though so I'm not 100% ruling it out.

2) You are highlighting the word 'Sports' but in a way, it's the least important of the three words. Either put 'Sports Betting' together and have them be the largest, or have Reviews be the largest -- assuming that any of these needs to be the largest!

3) If you do use the ESPN like font for one or more words, you should at least do something a bit bolder/interesting for the other words. Right now the fonts/style is too different.

4) I wouldn't mind a variation where the iconic Victory is more integrated into the words. The obvious place to do this would be with the 'V' in reviews, but I'm not married to this. In fact, I haven't even seen it, just curious if it might work well.

Thanks!

Hello,

The main idea on #43 was to emphasize both the thrill of victory and the check mark symbolizing a good tip or a trusted or verified thing.

Please let me know if that's suitable.

All the best,
Gabriel.

We still like your 38 best, but:

The guy looks like he is stretching and has on a loose shirt. Also, I’m not big on having him in a circle. If the guy could be stylized more and the circle could be simplified... It could be the winner. Also, I might try colors other than orange.

Hi, I'm not crazy about these, although I did rank one of the new ones as #2, because it meets some of the things I'm looking for. Below, I'm copying what I just said to the other guy who is working on this. Take a look and feel free to give it a shot too. I like his iconic V much better than yours, but I'm not sure how ethical it is for you to copy it, so I don't suggest you do. If you can come up with another idea I like, fine. I also don't like the badget concept you have, but I do like the two lines (see my comments to him below on this). Also, your fonts are not quite clean enough.

Comments to other bidder:

Okay, we're getting down to the wire but are still not really happy with any one logo. We had a meeting and the direction we like best is your #42. Here's why:

1) we like the iconic V because a) we can use it for our favicon, we can use it to replace the 1-5 stars we show next to each review and perhaps we can use it on award badges we might give to sites.

2) our name is too long in three words when it's all spelled out next to each other. We're not 100% sure on this, but the consensus tells us that we need to have 'Sports Betting' on one line and 'Reviews under it.

Here's what we don't like:

1) We don't like the star within the text -- get rid of stars!
2) the two lines are too close together, the V is getting squished into the upper words.
3) we like the stylized V better from logo #24.
4) we don't like the font. I know I have mentioned simple, but what I meant by that is a serif font and no cartoonish look. Many of the fonts people have been using look like very cheap fonts or are cartoonish. They are not strong, sleak, clear, etc.
5) we should probably try some nice effects on the font to make them really stand out -- slight gradient or glass effect (not reflection though, that is overdone). Maybe a slight drop shadow.

I wouldn't mind seeing the top line with 'SPORTS BETTING' be a little smaller font size than the word 'Review' which is under it. Also, while I do like the idea of having the 'V' used as the V for review, I wouldn't mind seeing a variation where the V is to the left of either the word Review or both lines.

Sorry for so many comments, but I really don't think we have changed much. What seems to keep happening is that we like something, give comments, but the future designs drift farther and farther away from what we're looking for. We're trying to pull back and get it right. I don't think we're so far off!
