My submission for your review and consideration.

The direction I have taken is one of Logo make over rather than going to far is creating something new. the elements in the original logo are very good..we just need to reduce the complicated layers to a more simpler style that is both cost effective to reproduce, clear to read and understand plus visually attractive with a professional look and feel.

Your feedback is appreciated and welcome

Cheers

in addition I've taken the liberty to reduce the tagline. The shorter the tag line the better and in this case we still retain the important information.

#34 and #35 demonstrates the effectiveness of the design on different backgrounds..which make this design extremely suitable for silk screening and especially embroidering on golf shirts and ball caps etc.

overall the design maintains the overall the company image and makes it current with a long shelf life

Hi scott, thanks for your entries and comments. Since the original logo concept was already approved by the principals conducting the study, I appreciate your working within that parameter. I agree that the smaller text is a bit lengthy, and it may be possible to shorten it as you suggest. Not only does it take less time to read, but shortening it also allows for a larger font, making it clearer.

good morning, Scott,

This logo will never be screen-printed or embroidered - it will always be in full color print. Could you humor me and replicate the original logo exactly, with the text shorter as you suggest??

Good Morning,

I am a wee bit confused why are you running this contest if the committee already approved the original logo if you want me to replicate it exactly....it makes no sense to be spending money here for an exact copy of your approved logo.

Please adv

Well, it should be easy money, then, right?

There are elements of your design that i like - its clean & sharp. I like the line separating the large and small texts that is interrupted by the bottom of the swirl.

Entry #33 is my favorite of yours, with no changes. and it is a strong contender. But for kicks and giggles - could you please add a large "O" in the background ???

what about typeface... what font is used for Scolar I know copperplate is used for the tagline

I've identified it

no no i like your font choices - keep them but just add a large "O" in the background

Logo Designer
will do however if I try to replicate the same scale the large background letter "O" will be enormous! I mean really big. which means it will be scaled differently to suite the font

The typeface I fond that is close to your original is a wee bit out and once again the large letter "O" will be enormous (much larger than the original

#62 is approx 90% the same

1. typeface changes layout aspect

2. I did not try to mimic the watermarked background brush stroke because that was either done in photo shop of a brush and I have no idea what that could be....to me it really does not belong to many dark colours on top of each other makes for a smudge look and will not print very well especially small.

3. if you want to keep the large letter "O" may I suggest a light grey

scale the "O" as you feel is .... aesthetically proportionate ??

#63

keeping the abstract icon flipped free up space below the name and we can now clearly read the tagline

#62 looks good. Can you show me #33 (Keeping the line between the large and small fonts and the swirl ending up to the left?)with the same "O" as #62?.
Oh, like #63 but add the line?

Client
I agree - the swirl should point up.

I'm going to have to log off for a while - my little guy is sick and I need to spend some time with him. I'll log back in this afternoon sometime. As far as the contest goes, I prefer working with a designer who has an impressive portfolio and that I have real-time communication with.

btw - that would be you.

Hi Scott,
I like both 66 and 67 - but i can't decide whether i like the line interrupted by the swirl (#67) or not (#66)?? what do you think? Is the "O" light blue or grey? I can't tell.

I am going to fall back on the antiquated puritan law which prohibits the comparison of artistic renderings of the colon on sundays and not log back in until Monday morning when I get to work.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend! ~ Melissa

I prefer the #67

the background letter "O" is light grey about 20% black...most monitors will be 6bit display panels so colour rendition will be average as compared to my system. best way I can describe this is being in a Big Box electronics store...they several computer monitors on a shelf..each one has a different colour appearance....each manufacturer has their own calibration to suit the produce.

I have a a high end 8bit display and it is colour calibrated for design work, basically what I see on the display will be 92-98% colour accurate where as inexpensive LCD'sand laptop display will be 72-80% accurate.

hope this helps

Hi Scott,
I think I don't like the "O" so faded in the background. Can you darken it up some?

#107 Original logo revised and thank you for considering my work

I've update the tagline from

"Effectiveness of Screening for colorectal cancer for average risk adults"

to

Effectiveness of Screening for colorectal cancer in average risk adults

the 2 "for" did not read right.

Sorry I didn't reply yesterday ~ I was logged in all day and kept checking your posts ~ so I don't know how I missed it?? I like #109.

Thank you for suggesting the rewording - we know it sounds odd, but the grant is already written, so we can't do anything about it. I agree - "in" sounds better than "for"

I don't really know what to do with the contest from here - ?? during the "judging" phase, do the designers continue tweaking?? Obviously, its down to you and one other designer. I'm going to have to read the contest rules regarding "judging" and get back to you this morning.

if you are happy with the submissions you received so far and satisfied with your choice the option is yours to end early.

but if a committee needs to weigh in then let it run it's course...you will receive message about waiting too long but trust me admin will never never never make a decision for you...the wait time for that is 90 days even then admin gets scared to make that final decision.

The longer you wait the harder it is

Thanks, Scott. Could you make 2 changes to #109 for me? Shorten the tag line as you had before to "Effectiveness of Screening for Colorectal Cancer" and make it black?

During the judging phase only the first ranked designer is permitted to upload change requests only (no new designs)

If you require tweaks by other designers you will need to move them to first place in order to upload and re-rank as required

Client
Thanks for letting me know that. Could you make just ONE last change to #115 and make the line between the text dark?
