#3 is a work in progress

#3 - I like the font you chose but this one doesn't have enough designed elements. I also do not like the bolt. It's a bit too literal. Additionally I'm trying to incorporate some warmer tones and stay away from black & white. Thank you for your work so far!

#4 - Font is cool. I like the symmetry, simplicity and the varied fonts but it's missing design elements. Trying to stay away from black. Thanks!

#5 - Not crazy about the angled font, or the ampersand layered on top of the words. It's missing a vintage feel.

Scott - Awesome job! I love #47. Can you make this look super old? My whole vibe is celebrating beat-up, aged, rusted-over elements. I love what you've created but is there a way you can adjust this logo so it feels like old wood, old copper..?

awesome! and thanks so much i look forward to your changes! also, i had been toying with the inclusion of a bee silhouette, and am now falling more and more in love with the idea of having one in there somewhere. would love to see how you'd do it, if you are able to add one. i added a reference image in the contest brief. thanks again scott!

Scott,
Your creations are awesome awesome! I love the layout you've created. It feels symmetrical, balanced and pleasing! You gave me exactly what I requested and more. I have some modifications that I'd like to request. I feel that the wood tone is too light. It's like a birch finish. I'd like to see a darker version that gets away from birch and feels more older dark wood (but not so dark)! Also, I'm not responding so well to the horizontal lines that create the wood grain texture. Is it possible to lose that effect, or lessen it so it's not so pronounced? Also, I feel that the metal tone is brassier than I'd like. Possible to go more old copper with it? There's a reflectiveness to it that feels too new, that I'd like to scale back on. Can the vertical metal band on the left edge be about half as thick, as well? Also, I'd love to see the numbers 1 and 2 on the measurement lines. You may need to expand the length a bit to include the '2'...or not. Up to you!
Also I loved your attempts at including the bee in unexpected spaces...but the bee itself fell flat for me. I'd love for you to still play with that element of an aged bee silhouette similar to the reference image. Maybe with the reduced size of the vertical metal band, there'll be room to add the bee stamp! Thank you again. Very talented.

1. I was able to keep the visual balance in tact the left metal edge is 2 8th's of an inch and from the left edge to the 1 in mark is 1 inch. and so on.

2. The address and year relocated to below the company name and to the right by moving the name become more prominent than in the previous versions.

3. Colour and textures updated

4. 2 Bees, keeps visual symmetry, though most important the bee looking left represents the past (antiques) and the bee looking right represents the future (creating new furniture) which ties into the company philosophy of whats old is new again

nice job on this! all notes were addressed & i love the idea of the 2 bees. i'm missing the grey faded tone you used for the text and the measurement lines in entry #50. it feels like the text in this current version , entry #62, is more bold or black. Can we go back to that previous tone? Also I like how in the previous version, the words Rust & Bolt were more prominent than all the other text & measurent lines.

I love the general layout and the placement of the bees, however I am still not in love with these bees. Its hard to discern them as bees and not house flys here. I'm open to suggestions.

Thank you for your terrific work!

well I am not sure how a Bubble bee is suppose to look like they do have similar appearance to flies this the lower abdomen is the key feature

Is there is a specific bee in mind that may help. but keep in mind any illustration type will look like a fly in small print

Good morning Scott,
Thanks for continuing to take different and bold directions with the logo. Entries #50 & #62 are still winning though. I love the concept & the placement of the two mirror imaged bees, but the bees themselves are still problematic for me. A couple of different thoughts ran through my head. The first is simplifying and using a letter 'B' on both sides (with one being a mirror image) instead of a literal bee silhouette. They could be thin & in very old type-set font so it's like a random official stamp thing. The other thought was going with more of an abstract mark for a bee, perhaps using two mirror-imaged letter B's to create the look. If that gets too cutsey or too bumble bee-ish then I'm happy to move beyond it.

The other general comment I have is, somehow I'm still loving entry #50 more than entry #62, even though #62 includes all of my notes. There's something about the color of the all text, the level of dirtyness and age that is all working for me in entry #50. Is it possible to try and get closer to those colors, that dirtyness and age in entry #62? Also, I feel like the wordds "Rustic, Industrial & Vintage Repurposed" in entry #62 got stretched too long. I like how they are in Entry #50.

Let me know your thoughts. And as always, thanks so much!

Entry #72 is very interesting!! I love that the ruler is like a photographic negative. Could you add numbers to the ruler and lose the horizontal line at the base of all the measurements? Also is it possible to beat this image up and add age & fading using just the black and whites??

Hey there,
I like where you're going with this! Maybe if it's 2 'B's' instead of a reversed R & a B, then it achieves that meaningfulness that you created with the 2 bookended bees facing opposite symbolic, directions. The biggest mandate is to keep it from feeling cutsey, too precious and also too feminine or frilly! Something more masculine and elegant. Thank you!

May I give a wee bit of advice. with all the elements and the bees coupled with text it is too complicated. A logo needs to be

1. easy to read in both small and large print and
2. industry relevant

I like the idea of the rule but not as your brand the rule could be used as a business a card design not as the main brand identity, your thoughts

love entry #80. the text, however, is still darker and more black than my liking. the grey tones you used in entry #50 are what I want. the faded grey of entry #50 for the text please!

Scott,
I hear what you're saying about simplicity and brand relevance. Perhaps removing much of the text may help. I'm thinking of lessening the amount of text to just "Rust & Bolt" "Repurposed relics". Do you think this alleviates some of the concern?

Entry #82 - Thank you for adjusting the color. I'm still missing the beat up fading out in the letters, similar to what you had in Entry #50. Also, can you get rid of some of the horizontal lines used to create the wood grain effect? Forgive the nitpickiness, but you really won me on that #50 entry.

From the lens of your suggestion, I've decided to revisit Entry #4. It's simple, and it's definitely brand relevant. It's missing the beat up, rough thing that you've successfully added to all the other versions. Can I see that one beat up, roughed up, aged??
