What We Do
We are launching a site where fans of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) can read up on the last news about the sport, engage in discussions and watch videos.
Industry
Sport
Color Preferences
Red, Black, Purple Orange, Silver, or Blue.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
We'd like to avoid MMA design cliches such as skulls, barbed wire etc. Something that incorporates a "smack"..such as a smack mark on the letters "mma" or the logo on a hand wearing an mma glove etc. might work.

Discussion

#1 The font used for "smack" is more "cartoonish" than we'd like. We liked the incorporation of the mma gloved hand and the yellow impact splash in the background.

#2 I personally like the comic book vibe on this one but not for this site I think we want something less light-hearted. Something you'd see as a logo for a pro sports team but with some extra attitude.

We like the shield and the color combo. We like the concept of the intercepting M's and A but would prefer a look that made it clear that it was "MMA" without having to spell it out below the logo.

#2 and #5 have grown on us with time. We don't love the color combo on #5 and would like to see a less obvious background than an Octagon.

#7 #8 and #12 do a good job of looking like a sports logo but just don't grab us

#11 looks like a good logo for a martial arts school but not what we want for an MMA web site.

#9 Is a little too plain.

We'd still love to see something that involves a smacking hand or the idea of smacking some one literally (with your hand) and/or figuratively (i.e "talking smack")

#15 We LOVE the concept of the logo tearing thru the surface. We'd be very interested in some variations on that concept with different logo styles.

#13 and #14 are a good concept but didn't grab us as much as some others.

We still love the "busting thru" look of #15 and 17. What we don't love is the "rounded" look given to the text. We understand that that's what makes the text look like it busting out, we just don't like the way it makes the words look. We'd love to see one with less rounded letters..instead of looking like the letters are busting out, it can just look like someone has torn the top layer to reveal the logo. Maybe a pair of hands wearing mma gloves could be shown tearing the top layer?

#18 and #19 are cool, but just aren't grabbing us the way the top rankers are.

This logo will not just be used on our web site but also on clothing. We will be sponsoring fighters (i.e they will be wearing our shirts in the ring) and a logo that really catches your eye on a t-shirt ( like #15) is a HUGE plus.

So your leaning towards the busting thru look? so are you saying you want some of us to look at those options also?

Yeah tagg3r, we'd love to see some variations on that look. We like the idea that someone wearing that logo on a shirt would look like they tore thru one shirt to reveal a second shirt with that logo underneath. #20 looks cool, but a little too similar to an exiting logo of a very big MMA brand.

Just courious what the brand is? I would like to look at it, cause I dont want you to think I copied anything... thanks, Pat

No problem. Don't think you copied anything! But there is a well known MMA league called "King of the Cage" that has a buffed bald guy with crossed arms in their logo.

#24 jumps into the lead. We continue to lean toward the torn top layer look. We'd still love to see a variation with a pair of hands with MMA gloves actually doing the ripping.
Also, we have seen a lot of punching fists, but would still like to see a concept that features "smacking."
