I don't want to get locked into my name as part of the logo. Everyone uses the same tooth or smile or apple. I'm looking for something new and fresh.

You have your name/company name inserted into the Brand Name field above...

Do you just want a logomark without the logotype? If you do want logotype, what would you like it to say?

I didn't want my name in the logo but #7 is interesting. My concern would be taking on a partner in the future and only having my name on the logo.
I edited my brief.

#16 The reflection in the mirror concept is intersting. Every dental logo seems to have a tooth, brush, apple, or smile in it. I was looking for something classy, clean and I'm not against going out of the box so to speak.

#16 The dental mirror and reflection is good. The face doesn't work. What else can be reflected in the mirror that symbolizes good health, is classy, and is unique?

Hi,

I think you need to give a little more direction, and more detailed information about your business. This will help us as designers. I think you need to scratch the idea of designing for a possible partner...I think that's limiting you, and us, from designing something more specific to YOUR business. Here is a good example of questions, and ANSWERS, from a sample logo questionnaire:

http://creativebits.org/corporate_identity_client_questionnaire

For example, I Googled you and found you are located in Tacoma, the City of Destiny. You have over 25 years in business. You have a great slogan/motto: “A Healthy Mouth is the Gateway to a Healthy Body". All this can help us generate ideas.

Just some tips so you can get the best from us, the designers :)

I appreciate disenolopez's comments. You are right about not designing for a possible partner, I just wanted the logo to represent something bigger than just me. I am in the process of a major web site update, www.Marklaviola.com, and I want to integrate the new logo into the design. My slogan/title, "A healthy mouth is the gateway to healthy body" is still appropriate for us and will continue to be used. I have been a General Dentist at Allenmore Medical Center in Tacoma since 1981 and believe that preventive dentistry makes dental care less invasive, more comfortable, quicker, and less expensive. i have a modern office with the latest technology and a well trained caring staff. We believe that no one can be expected to make good decisions about their own dental care without being educated about what the problem is, potential solutions, and any options. A thorough examination is essential to good dental office. I hope this helps and I will look at the web site recommended. Even though I mentioned previously that I wanted to avoid the traditional apple, tooth, smile, etc, #41 is geeting closer. It's classy, healthy, clean and simple.

#47 is interesting. It's different and pleasing to the eye. I need to study it a bit but it is definitely going in the right direction.

#52 is interesting. I don't like the star. Mabe a gate instead of the bridge would make is less busy?
#1 is back on our list. Even though I was against my name and the typical tooth in the logo it is classy and clean.

#64 is on to something. The bridge-gate symbol ties our office and web site pictures of Tacoma's Galloping Gerty and the new Narrows bridge together. Tacoma historical and modern scenery photos are intended to project a more regional but stable hometown image. We still have concerns about the small "The mouth is a Gateway...." script showing up on a business card. We are also questioning the yellow color.

We like the name and DDS on one line.

#96 Could you put the "The mouth is the gateway...." back under my name in #96? The entire office staff will be voting tomorrow and I would like them to see that variation.

We would like to see #96 with the "A healthy mouth is the ...." slogan uner it if there is time.

#96 Sorry, I asked for a modification at the last minute and you didn't have time to respond. We voted and you came in second. Thank you for being part of the process.

I understand. But all this time I thought you didn't wanted a tooth or apple...? I spent all my time not designing a tooth or apple, and it turns out that's what you ended up going with. Kinda frustrating :/
