Hi. Here's my concept for your contest. A bold, simple and professional logomark.

Can the logo have MHC in it? Can the M.Harn Construction be a watermark behind it? Can you do the MHC schield with text to the right of it, a little longer for letterhead. I like this design very much I just want to see it a couple ways. Thank you for your hard work. Best, Mark

no problem. I can do it right now. Just a note though... I kept the lettermark at just the HC in order to keep it less cluttered. I've seen other companies do the same, shorten what would could be a three letter mark down to two, and I've always liked that effect. It works really well when the letters stand for someones name.

And also the layout can be changed based on how it's used. For instance I might recommend #34 for business cards, but most surely suggest the icon be on the left for a stationary layout. Seems we're on the same page with this.

I'm not sure what you mean by a watermark... so I'm just throwing this out there.

I could tell from your brief that you weren't primarily focused on residential construction, that's why I choose this type of mark. You're calling it a shield, which it makes a good one, but when I was designing it I was thinking more industrial... like a bolt maybe. It does server multiple functions.

I hope you're pleased with the white on black. I love the looks of it and when working with this style of design, the black and white actually become sort of a color in itself. It could easily be changed, now or years down the road, but I think the was it is is very stylized.

Just some thoughts....

I really like 34 and 50, You are right about the MHC being too cluttered. This is my first experience with this web site. Do we get to use 34 and 50 if we choose your design. Would we be in contact with you for future work? 50 would be great letterhead and 34 would work for trucks, hats, shirts. Can this be used at any size? Any additional thoughts would be great. We actually do more commercial work so your design is my favorite because it is contemporary and solid at the same time. I have partner that is helping me pick this, and so far my vote is for your work. I am not sure what to suggest to change what you have done. If you would like to play with the font a little? I like it the way you have it but a couple to compare to if it is not too much trouble. Best, Mark

Sure you get them both. Vector graphics are based on math as opposed to bitmaps (like .jpg .gif .png) so in all actuality they really are identical, just re-sized and positioned differently. In fact (your question from above "Can this be used at any size?"), they would look exactly the same on a business card as they would on the side of a bus. You won't get rough edges like you would if you enlarged a photograph for example. That's why LT insists that designers use a vector program instead of a bitmap program( like photoshop). Of course you can make vectors into bitmaps.

Sure, I'll mess with the font so you have some choices. Let me know if you see anything you might like to see with the logo.

And of course I could be available for future work. The site kind of encourages it. I mean who better to lay out a business card or stationary then the designer that did the logo. I do cards for well over half the logo customers I work for and I have some amazing high quality commercial printers to work with. Very good prices too!

Thanks for the great feedback, and thanks for liking my work!

Here's a font that goes nicely with the icon. Very powerful together.

Just so you know. You probably can't see it here, but the black inside the icon isn't a pure flat black, it's a black to dark gray gradient. It will look better in print that way. I hope your trucks are bright white :)

Our trucks are white so this will work well. I like the fact that we can work with you. I will ask my partner if this is ok and we will seal the deal. Nice job! Best, Mark

White would be... as a designer... my color of choice for the trucks. This is very cool.

Also... I've kind of changed my mind about the MHC version. I don't think it's that busy now that I've looked at it for a while. Consider reconsidering #52

We have decided to go with your design and would like to end the tournament. How do we contact you after we close the contest?

After looking at these I like 52 as well. It ties the MHC to the text. Can you do 52 the same size as 34? So odd how when they are together they look so different.

I think you can just end the contest... once you do I can PM you through the site...

but I'm also akronix@gmail.com

It won't be hard to find you guys... I'll be sure to. Thanks!

sure... 52 can be the exact same size as 34

Like I said... after doing the full MHC design I don't think it looked that cluttered. What you want is up to you. I think you should make a decision now for branding purposes... but as a designer, if you came to me 6 months from now wanting the other one, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

Both are really good branding.
