I thought a firefly would make a good icon for you.
It could easily be animated to either blink or have his wings move, or both.

#4 - The firefly is a great concept. I agree it could be animated to great effect and I appreciate you working wtih the flashing concept. I'd like to see a revision with:
-the firefly on the left of the logo
-a typeface that isn't bold
-different colors for the firfley, I'm thinking orange/yellowish colours may look better for the 'light' of the firefly.

On placement - I think this is an improvement but there are 2 other variations I'd like to see - A tilted firefly and/or a firefly with the 'light' as part of the dot of the middle i.

On the firefly icon - can you add a bit more detail so it's more recognised as a firefly? Some people won't recognise it in its current form.
typeface could be a little bit bolder too (not as bold as first revision)

Thanks for the effort for this. I like the blue wings but I still don't think this is recognisable as a firefly. More work on the 'body' may be needed.

I I tried the body of the firefly and tried to give it more detail. The design was just way to busy and took away from the simplicity.

#200 I see you've done animation frames. Very persuasive in terms of the uniqueness of your design. I think the transparent wings on the side definitely look the best. I would still like to see the firefly with a bit of a body and the light being more part of that body.

edit - noted your above comment - Couldn't the body just be a simple outline?

btw to other artists reading this - as per the brief you are not expected to submit examples of animation to compete in this contest but it may be persuasive if you do.

I appreciate you've probably lost a bit of sleep on this contest because of the timezones. I think the firefly makes the best use of the animation ability of the shirts but in its current form I don't think it's the best static icon in this competition.

To improve the shape of the firefly and hopefully make it a winner I have the following specific feedback.
On wings: At the moment they are perfect ovals, I think this looks a bit unatural. Simplicity is good but a slightly more natural shape is likely to improve the design.
On the light: A light that is slightly more beaded (but possibly flatter at the end towards the centre of the body) similar to your initial entry #26 would look more natural.
On the body: After seeing your revision with the body I think it is an improvement but the current shape is unnatural. If the light is beeded it could be better integrated into the body of the firefly. The blue outline may look best if it stops at the light.

Please shrink the light a bit.
Try some subtle color variations. - perhaps a bit of orange in the ligth.
Blue wings are okay but would not mind seeing other variations. Shape is fine.

#355 and #354 are great revisions. However my factor has just advised me that the would not be able to animate this logo like we had hoped becuase the wires underneath will overlap :(
