Thank you, Sebastian! (Entry #1) Here are our thoughts so far (and we apologize for not making these comments earlier):

(1) We'd like to emphasize our tag line (Learning for Life) more than the actual name of the organization. Both need to be in the logo, but our mission is more important than our name.
(2) We want to emphasize the sociability of our organization...that the programs are fun and that everyone is welcome. To us, that could translate visually into something "playful" and/or a representation of people.

Please feel free to ask us any questions that might help you further develop our logo...and we appreciate your bravery in being our first entry!

As our "committee" further refines what we're looking for, here are some of our thoughts:
(1) We'd like something really colorful and vibrant. (It will be printed in B&W also-- but primarily in color.)
(2) We know we have a lot of words in both the name and tag line, but do your best in making the logo look clean and streamlined.
(3) Our preference for type faces is something contemporary.
