welcome to the logo design tournament - i am very active in giving comments and i've previously used logotournament for a subsidiary of lamniformes (mobile1up) with awesome results. i look forward to what can be designed for lamniformes! it is NOT important to have the company name in the logo (if it is, i would recommend it being small print - AB means "aktie bolag" which is an official company with stock) if you want to keep ideas private; you can email me on aaron@ardiri.com

it is good to see some variation - keep them coming. it is a little early to begin ranking as i am not sure the concept has been nailed yet; but i can say i like the designs coming through; #4 shows some nice simplicity; yet #5 and #6 attempt to create a mascot type concept; both of which are interesting. #1 and #3 attempt to build a visual concept, while the slogan and text are important; they are not in all mediums. the use of gears also shows the building blocks foundations. i look forward to seeing the developments. i think a white background would be best suited as well - but if you can use dark colors and really bring out the message - do it!

i have performed the first ranking - looking good.

just one note; i tend to keep a lot of unique designs in the candidate lists ; specially during the initial phases. if i move a design out to NOT INTERESTED; it is either because i am not interested; or a similar design exists and the one that stays is better. i find a lot of tournaments have 10 similar designs by same designers; and i think this gives a bad message - i want to see a lot of variation; so keep them coming!

the ranking order just picks out some of the interesting ones; they can all be candidates at this point - do not try to copy the first logo at this point; all logos ranked have potential ideas; but currently none of them are potential finalists (need some variation, clean up) etc.. what i think is missing so far is a true attempt at a mascot; which should not be too detailed; possibly cartoonic?

4 days remaining - lots of good ideas.

has anyone been considering a mascot type logo at all? a cartoonish type shark with a big sharp teeth grin that could be associated to the concept? sometimes simplicity is good; but it may not be enough. some entries have tried to show teeth; like #6 and #23. the shark fin is nice; but may be too basic. i would like to see some cartoonish type influence for consideration a little.

almost near a close - some excellent entries; but i think there is still a need for some touching up for a couple of entries and also i would like to see something around what the company does; specifically - we provide building blocks to make cross-platform development easier.. some people tried to do something with cogs and wheels earlier on; but there are some good ideas i am sure missing from this set. i am not sold on any exact idea yet - tho some are unique, close and definitely inspiring. i was expecting 100+ entries to sort through - but i guess it is a little close to xmas - which brings up the question if we should provide a little more time since i haven't been able to be here for comments and suggestions as much as i would like to.

hi ardiri, will be easy for us to make ideas with the building blocks if you provide us with and image or a link to illustrate our minds with it, do you have something like that? :D

nice influx of entries!

@Tezcatlipoca - lamniformes is in the business of creating a toolkit for developers to easily write software across many platforms - SHARK is the product name, and we are looking at making it available for more people in the near future; hence the need to establish a brand. the SHARK character works; the fin works; but what about a toolbox concept? we provide a framework that people build on top of; is it possible to mix a SHARK with a toolbox? probably not a good looking thing unless you can really bend your artistic desires.. i've mentioned previously the company name isn't important? has anyone thought of a baby shark playing with ABC blocks? thats just an idea.. :) it could be a little childish - but, ideas are there to be explored.

i have extended the contest by 2 days to get in some new ideas around foundations / building blocks concept. i will then order the entries in the last eight hours; ranking them from favorite to least favorite so we can see some variation to the ideas that are presented.. there are a lot of cool ideas; lets make this a great xmas present :)
