We build the buildings that build community.
What We Do
J.M. Cope is a commercial construction firm focused on buildings that build community (churches, schools, banks, office, healthcare, retail, and industrial).
Top Three Things to Communicate

A Red, Light Grey, and Small Black Accents
The red we have been using is RGB 153-15-2 but we are open to other shades if the designer feels it brings an added element.
Our Ideas and Additional Information:
We have had the same logo for 40+ years and it's dated. It needs a refresh BUT keeping similar enough that we keep our strong brand recognition in the local community. The community KNOWS us so we want to show an update but want them to know it's still the same J.M. Cope they have known for years.
The industrial block image originally was the J, M, and C (initials) overlapped on three different planes, thus forming the industrial block. Our business has expanded so much now, the industrial block doesn't really encompass what we do anymore (since we build more than industrial buildings). BUT it is really well-known in the community to represent our brand so we want to try to keep the IDEA of it.
The current logo not only looks dated but is not easily transferable to our different mediums - website, jobsite signage, trucks, letterhead, marketing collateral. We need both a horizontal and vertical version that we can use.
We also have two different divisions now - a construction division and a program management division so we would like to have a J.M. COPE logo and then have the opportunity to showcase CONSTRUCTION or PROGRAM MANAGEMENT underneath. The idea is that we could use the J.M. Cope logo generally and then use the construction or program management version depending on the client or project we are referencing. A similar example is the Virginia Tech logo. They have the ability to add Engineering, Facilities, etc. under the Virginia Tech logo to show a sub brand.
Please no typical construction references - hammers, houses, etc.
