On #48 my concept is more of a mascot or character FOR the kids rather than focusing on kids in the logo. I used an Owl which is a symbol for "wise". I shaped his face like a heart so the Heartwise comes through in the single character.
The small playful heart shapes floating around like butterflies can be hearts or distant owls flying and moved around in your animation. The owl can be animated to fly in and land on a Cross, which once landed on just looks like the 't' in the center of Heartwise. It worked out perfectly with the T being the center letter in the word.
The brows on the owl sort of match the style of the font, looks like the letters are made with a marker leaving the thicker area from pressure where the line starts and stops. I initially had the brows in front but it made the owl look serious and not as playful or fun, so I moved them back behind the eyes, so the eyes are full and aware. This particular font and owl are just here for concept, so if you like the concept but want to see different flavors/styles just let me know and we can try others.
I can almost picture on an animated intro, the actual Heartwise Ministries logo with the cross in the middle of the heart morphing into this one, starting with the heart and cross separating to make the 'T' and the owl face and then going from there until the Heartwise Kids logo finishes out. Maybe the Owl flies off of the T playfully and clunky with little wings and towards the camera until filling the screen with orange or red into an introduction screen for the program(?)...

On #49 I wanted super simple but high impact like you get with lots of network logos, most don't exaggerate the font style, usually simple font but nice shapes and color in the logo making it very legible and easily remembered. I thought combining a nice red heart with a stem like an apple would not only express the idea of a food/nutrition program but give a nice frame or background behind the program's name without the heart even being that noticeable as a heart, but also an average fruit or vegetable. High impact but simple.
