GreasyLife.comLogo Design Contest

Our Finnish community www.overdrive.fi has a vintage car and a blonde girl in its banner, maybe something inspiration there?

I think the GreasyLife.com would be a virtual version of a car club or a gas stations cafeteria - a place where you can meet other car freaks sharing the same lifestyle.

We prefer writing to domain on a single line. "GreasyLife.com" and "Greasylife.com" are both ok, but separating the words to "Greasy" and "Life.com" gives impression that it's a dodgy version of Life magazine which we don't prefer ;)

#5 We like the general feeling in this. Could the gear be simplified, a bit more graphic than realistic?

#1 The round shape is fine, but as said earlier Greasy and Life are too far from each other. And a british sportscar is not quite what our target audience likes.

#4 This is a bit too girlish for us and our target group but a nice design anyway.

The idea of crossed wrenches is kind of a neat in the #9 but design is a bit too complex I guess. Also the flames in #7 look nice, maybe the 8-ball could be replaced by something else? The #10 looks too much of a collection of clip-arts in our opinion (not saying it is but there's the "feeling") and the #8 has a bit too basic layout.

The usage of retro & vintage fonts is a good idea, there are plenty of them out there. We mentioned before the "gas station" style but it could also be something like diner and motel signs you saw when travelling route66... Imagine people working hard on their cars at the garage, building up a showstopper dreaming about cruising down the highway in a car of their dreams...

It would also be appreciated if the design is easily configurable to work both white/light and balck/dark backgrounds and maybe even as a black&white printing.

Wow, the girl figure in #23 (and some others) is really awesome, but maybe the logo needs a different font?

mapiga, could you make a logo where the figure is the dominant element and the text runs differently? Also the figure could be a great entry to contest also without the text.

We thought that maybe you guys (and gals) would like to see our company's other logos. We are publishinf a Finnish website Overdrive.fi and i collected it's graphics here -> http://www.whitewall.fi/some_inspiration.pdf

There is also some font testing we did before this contest by ourselves, but they are just ideas, nothing to take as guidelines. But maybe you could get some ideas there.

Here's an idea one of us came up with: A car preferably a fifties kustom or a classic hot rod silhouette from the front and a guy kneeled down to fix it's tire on the other side and a girl (like #23 ) standing on the other side of the car.

Because we're an social network of people it would be nice to have people in the logo and in this idea it would also contain the repairing "greasy" work while the guy is doing something. Maybe someone could work something out of this idea.

P.S. The domain "greasylife.com" is not necessarily needed on the logo, the logo may be a picturemark also.

I'm not sure how the ranking here usuaylly goes, but I would like to think that for us all the TOP10 entries are potential winners, so don't give up even you don't get ranked as # 1 =)

The "automobile enthusiasts" used in those top ranked entries is not our slogan, it's a suggestion made by foss in his designs so it is not necessary to include just that particular slogan, you can invent your own or maybe use the slogan from our other website which is "car culture online".

As you can see we have not included any slogan to our contest brief. You can, if you want, include a slogan of your choice in your design especially if your design is a emblem style logo (such as those vintage oil signs) and i suppose we can later change that slogan to whatever we choose for our slogan.

We would like to see also other ideas and variations form ideas we have described in previous comments, especially logos with characters (people) are still an interesting option.
