Hi Karavas,

Here are some designs for you.

Sorry, seem to have done the upload twice by mistake.. so i deleted the doubles.

I tried to capture the playful, curious nature of the cat.
Sleder, graceful and cute.

In the first couple of version the eyes are a bit sly (#1, #3, #4), but could be mistaken for angry. So in the other versions i made friendly eyes (#5, #6, #7, #15).
Personally i kinda like the investigative focussed eyes, but i can understand if you rather see friendly eyes to broaden the brands' target audience.

There are different colour versions. Some reffering to the the cat being an animal of the night.

The oo's have cat's pupils. It's just a little extra, not sure if the logo needs it though, but it's makes the text more suited for the subject.
In version #15 i removed them.

Thanx for watching. Please feel free to give comments and critique.

Kind regards,

Wackman

Wackman, Nice designs. Here is some feedback I've received:

1) more sleek, maybe a little longer of a stretch? current design looks like its about to attack.

2) fun but not "sweet" enough. Maybe more variations with the eyes (is mouth an option too)? Looking for a friendlier, more inviting feel. Change eyes, maybe bigger too?

3) background has been described as looking like a "guitar pick". I have a love/hate with it. I like the idea of the logo having a background like this, but not sure.

4) Tail looks more like a hook than a question mark. Maybe curve the end in just slightly?

5) Bigger, more defined ears maybe? Just an idea.

6) No black cats. Bad luck associated with it.

7) Some people suggested a slightly heavier cat? Not sure about this myself and if it would translate well in the design.

That's all for now.

Thax for the feedback.
Here are some new designs (#41, #42 and #43).

I'm also working on a new design,

Will upload that in a few hours.

Kitty is standing up. Elegantly, sleek, cute, loving, smart, proud, playful.

Feedback is welcome.

Tail is a questionmark again.

Client
tall version of the cat is nice. Definitely elegantly, sleek, smart, proud, but I'm not getting the playfulness out of it that I wanted. still thinking about this one.

The tail on #15 is the winner of choice. No on the heart tail and no on the question mark. People say the question mark looks too much like a hook. tail #15 seems most playful.

Notes of consideration:

1) On #15, there appears to be a slight hump on the cats mid-back. I've looked at a lot of cat stretching images using images.google.com... Most of the pics I've seen have more of a slope here (no hump). I think the slope I'm referring to makes the difference between a cat that looks as if it's stretching versus one that looks ready to attack. :-)

2) The eye selection on the "stretching cat designs" is still bothering me. Can you try something more substantial, maybe some of the eyes from the other designs. Hard to see small details on my end so I need to defer to you.

3) some people say that the stretching cat kinda looks like a high heel shoe. I said "most of my customers will be women...so how could that hurt" right? ;-)

What body design/tail/eyes have you liked the best so far?

Also...... the two colored version kinda looks like a squirrel. And the cat design incorporated with the words "good kitty" seems busy and harder to read.

Client
it almost feels like the eye should be rounder rather than slender and longer.... maybe more like a football?? (bad example), but that's the best I got.

being such a small design, the head/ear/eye combination feels like it can be developed more - not sure how but feels like something is needed. I hate to say this but the head design is more reminiscent of a squirrel than a cat. "something" doesn't feel right, I just can't put my finger on it.

I hope I'm being more constructive than critical or offensive...sorry if that's the case...

Thank you for the feedback.

Haha, i kinda had the same feeling with the squirrel thing when i looked later on.

I will try to improve on the design of #15.
Eyes, ears and tail, body.

I'll also try and see if i can improve on the standing kitty.

#51 & #52

A couple of pretty big changes imo.:
- head is changed. No more squirrel head :P.
- I changed the proportions. Now the cat is more a Kitty. Cuteness increased.
- The eyes have changed. Friendly cat-eyes.
- The tail is now a more playful tail instead of wanting to be a question mark.

Please let me know what you think.

variation in text and legs

No more squirrel, YAY :-)

LOVE the updates. You nailed key components of the cat. #63 is my favorite with all of the body/ear/eye updates you've made. A little fatter and I can see more of the paws now. Not as jarring of a design as originals that seemed more "sharp" (if that makes sense). #52 is a very nice 2nd.

What font is used on #63? I like that the letters were pushed down. More readable now. The "GOOD" was harder to read before. Looked more like "GOOO" than "GOOD" at quick glance. You think we need more spacing between letters or anything else we can do to make it more readable?

I don't care for the font wrapping on #52. I don't think we need to get fancy or crafty with the lettering. Just a nice, readable font should suit us well.

Do you think the tail on #52 would look nice on #63 and vise versa?

Also, which is your personal favorite(s)?

Logo Designer
The font on #64 is Adera Display ssi.
I'll switch tails and see how i can improve the readability.

#63 is my favourite so far. I like the pose and i think it's very streamlined, stripped to the essential shapes (but i'll try to improve where i can). Some would say it's an attack-mode, but that's what i love about kittens/cats. It seems they're always up to catch something, whether it's a sock, a mouse, a beam of light.. haha. The enthousiasm and focus they have is very funny to watch imo. It's always playful. Even when they catch real prey. We have a white cat ourselves. Fast as lightning and she always catches birds, rabbits, mice, etc.
Sometimes she toys with them for hours before actually killing them (and ofcourse i think it's very brutal and painfull to watch). She sees no harm in it. Sometimes they escape, sometimes i have no choice but to put them out of their misery.. Pretty sad. For me and the animal that is. The cat doesn't care either way.

Thanx,

Wackman

have you tried changing the background shapes on design style #63? I like the idea you're going for here, but not sure if I want the background for sure, or something more like #1 with no background.

would be nice to see the whole tail inside the design by expanding the background in the top right section just for the sake of comparison purposes.

#73, #74, #75 & #76

New designs. More playful with font and better readability.
Some slight changes to the Kitten. For instance, the body is a bit longer in #74 & #75.

Personally i like it best on a solid colour (somehow the 100%magenta works well, but it could be any colour). This way you know the logo holds up well, no matter what.

Please let me know what you think.

i like it best with a solid colour background too.

You did a great job in making the text more playful/fun, but I think it makes the logo appear more for a younger crowd. I want to avoid making the logo too juvenile or too mature. What you did isn't too bad, however I wanted the cat itself to be the star of the logo, not the font.

A playful cat with standard use of font might be the best way to go.

I think the extra curly tail is a bit much too.

Can you try #63 with the letters spaced out just "ever so slightly"?

Also, can you try something with no background. So basically, the background is white and the cat & text are different colors?

Spacing on the letters looks good. Can you give me designs #81, 82, 83 and 86 with the tail you used on #63 please.

thanks much.

Personally, i like this tail better than the one that's all curled up. Just because it's stronger i think.
On the other hand, the other one gives it a bit of a playful twist (:P)
I also think the logo works best in white on a solid background. What do you think?

Cheers,

Hi Dannes,

Can you give me #76 with no background and using your most recent version of the cat updates?

Also, a few more questions:

1) do you think you can make the front leg look more like a paw in the very front? maybe by giving it a slightly bigger bump in the front?

2) I like the idea of being able to use this design as a stand-alone without a background, but without the background the logo seems a bit "naked", almost like it's unfinished. Do you think there is anything that can be done about this to bring it all together better??

Hi Dannes,

Please ignore my request for #76 with no background and using your most recent version of the cat updates.
I think #82 is my favorite at this point.

Can you take #82 and create a version using the two colors you used for the background for #86? If the logo is going to be ideally used without a background, i think it needs to contain two colors and I like the two you used for background purposes.

Sure, here are two new versions.

Hi Dannes,

Thanks for the updates. I'm not sure the two-color variations work very well.... Can you tell me what those two colors are?

Also, did you see my previous post? I'm not sure these were addressed in any way (or even could be addressed) I asked the following....

Great work Wackman.

#88 will be the winner, but I was hoping I could get a version of the logo without a background like #87 as well as a version with the background used on #83 (solid color AND a 2-color fade option similar to #88) when you deliver the final assets.

Please let me know if that will be possible.

Hi,

The two colours were 100% magenta and 100% + 100%Cyan.

Yeah sorry, forgot about that post. But will do right away.

Client
anything else you can recommend to the cat itself?

I still think the cat can look longer and in a deeper stretch without making the logo itself wider (i like its current width).

What do you think if we made the back leg shorter (say 5-10% shorter) and lifted the butt up (stretching the body up)? This would allow us to stretch the body more without making it longer in width.

Just a thought.

Logo Designer
#118
his butt is a bit higher, his head a bit lower. I kept the leg the same size though.

Client
subtle.... I notice the butt/back area looks a little thicker (which is fine - just saying).

what are your thoughts? what do you like best?

Client
just wanted to share some thoughts...

i think i know what it is.... I've been looking at a lot of pics and when a cat stretches, it's front legs are in front of their head. In our design here, the front legs and flush with the head.

I understand why you did it, not sure that can be addressed in any way without disrupting the lines of the design.

I think the front legs stretching beyond the head is what give the look I was trying to achieve, but unsure that can be addressed here.

Client
what do you think about bringing he letters back up so they are flush like in your first original versions and stretching the cat out by pulling it's front paws/legs out beyond the head?

Not sure you like this idea or if that version would look any better...just thinking out loud.

Logo Designer
#119 #120 #121

Now the Kitty is really stretching.
In the older pose he was more in an attack position.

Let me know what you think. I kinda like it actually.
It's less about being playful but it's very relaxed and catlike (cause cat's just don't give a damn :P).

you nailed it Dannes. good job.

I'm torn between the two. I need to get some feedback and get right back to you.

On #119, do you think it will look better if we made the lower area by the head (near the neck & front shoulders) longer slightly (maybe like 5% longer) .

This version goes pretty much from the hump down to the neck with no real space in between the two areas. Not sure if it needs it, or if it will make it look odd, but thought I'd mention/suggest it.

Client
Dannes, can you also take #118 and try to give it a more defined back foot like #119?

I like the way you made the back foot on #119 more defined. I think it would make #118 look better.

#124, #125, #126

#125 more defined rear paw

#124 and #126 are same design. I changed the neck bit.

#125 looks like you pulled out the front paw just a little, yea? i like it...

Client
dannes, what do you think of #74 compared to #125?

Client
what do you think about making the "o" on #125 by the cats paw a ball of yarn instead of an "o"?

Logo Designer
Hi, sorry for the late reply.

- You're right, i pulled out the front paw a bit. #125
- #74 compared to #125. I think they are both strong and will both work on small and large sizes.
I think the improtant thing is asking yourself what works best for your brand. I'll make a mix between the two.
Maybe that will make things a bit more clear for you.

Logo Designer
#135

a combination between #74 and #125.

About the o as a ball of yarn. I like the idea, but somebody allready used that concept.

Client
is is considered copying if the client makes a request for an update like that, which is a minor part of the entire design? I think the ball of yarn would pull the design together and make it appear as if the cat is playing.

Client
i like the cat on #135, but prefer the background colors reversed like on #121
11 years ago

Yeah i agree. #142 has it reversed.
