Hi, this is my proposal/design for you. It is my original drawing and I hope you'll like it and it will fits with your visions. I would appreciate a feedback. Thank you. Regards, Madeleine

I really like #37, but we were hoping to steer clear of any images that were too ethnically specific. While our product is for white women, it isn't ONLY for white women, and I fear this image as is will send the wrong message. Would it be at all possible to make her a bit more ethnically ambiguous?

Logo Designer
Hi, thank you for your feedback, but #37 is not my entry but #35. As far as my design (#35) design, is a universal goddess made from natural and from beauty of the natural... and not just a white/caucasian woman... still I'll try to make her even more universal... more non ethnical...

Sorry, I was on my phone and mistyped! Of course I meant #35!
Thank you for understanding. Unfortunately, especially here in the states, it'll just be considered a white lady and we don't want anyone misunderstanding that we make products for everyone. All hair types, all skin types and colors, etc. If you look at the few ranked a little higher than this one, you can see they are a little more abstract. It's obvious it's a face, but they don't have features that can really be put to one ethnicity or another.

Hi again. Thank you explaining to me... I understand your point and therefore, I draw another woman with different, mixed bone structure and elements who make her an universal goddess (in my opinion). I hope you'll find it closer to your vision. Waiting your thoughts. Regards, Madeleine

I'll submit few color versions for you to see the versatility of the design. Regards, Madeleine

#67is a monochrome version - the design can be easy converted in just one color for different marketing circumstances/materials.

... and another suggestion/design along #35 lines, but without lines/bone structures to be more universal. Regards, Madeleine

Can you try the hair in #65 with the face in #35, but soften the chin just a bit?

Absolutely fabulous work thus far! Could we please see #65 with more ethnically ambiguous features, please? At the moment, we feel that she looks too European.

Hi, thank you for appreciating my work and thank you for your feedback. I redraw the designs, changing the hair for #35 and I made #65... more confusing. Actually, for #65 I kept just vague features for the woman. I hope you'll find the design less european (in my opinion, she doesn't look european at all, but your opinion is what it matters . Waiting your thoughts. Regards, Madeleine)

Can you make the chin on #86 rounder and the lips a little thinner? Thanks!

Logo Designer
Hi again... I redraw the lips and the chin line to be softer and rounder. I made a version with gradient color scheme (#103 - that has delicate purple gradient ) for you to see that you can apply gradient colors for luxury products of yours, for example. Regards, Madeleine

Hi, I redraw a bit the design making it less compact and more flowing and I used another color scheme. I hope you'll like this version better. Regards, Madeleine

#153 is very pretty, but we don't really like the fuscia. Can we see it with those portions in lighter purple, or a bronze?

Logo Designer
Hi again... I'm really glad you like the revised design because she is beautiful, very illustrative and she has the goddess look. I uploaded few different color schemes for you with light purple and different bronze shades (light bronze for #172 and a more dark bronze for #173). Regards, Madeleine

Thank you for working with us. We are in the final stage where we can still request changes. Do you not want us to consider your work any further?

Logo Designer
Oh, I didn't say that. I just want to thank you for your conduct during the contest because you respected my time and my work. Perhaps is not much, but I think a nice word is valuable. Of course, you can consider my work any further. Regards, Madeleine

Ok, because you withdrew all of your entries except one. We were still having other people judge the color schemes and whatnot.

Logo Designer
Oh, I get it! I will reinstall the other color schemes, no problem.

Thank you :)
In this current phase we can only receive submissions from 1st place and we are waiting on some changes at the moment. But in the meantime if you'd like to work on something...
I LOVE #171. The simplicity and beauty of it just wows me. But one of the common suggestions we've received is that it (especially next to the others) may not be as memorable. Do you have any ideas that might be more exciting? If you have an idea that's completely different, or even something to change the current, either is fine. Once we receive the changes from the other artist, we'll move you into 1st so we can receive your submissions, if that's ok?

The first logo you submitted had a great wow factor with the hair that kind of looked like leaves. The issue is that it also looked too much like straight hair. Something like that would still be wonderful if there were a way to make it so the hair wasn't straight? Maybe if it was mostly made of leaves and flowers or something like that?

Ok, let me tell you something: always simple is better. Beside that, I can assure you this is a memorable design because is no usual (I know is a bit not so usual) and the whole aspect of the design is delicate and its beauty is enough to illustrate your business (GoddessBeauty) As designer, I would not change the delicate look just to look more busy or more complicate because this not mean memorable or exciting. I make branding for years and I know what I'm saying. On the other side, I respected the stylistic requirements that you want to communicate: feminine, simple, elegant, serious, exotic etc and also quality, all-natural and handcrafted aspects. Believe me I draw many sketches before I submit my entries/drafts in your contest. I don't know what to say, but this is my vision (after I analyze your brief) for your brand. Regards, Madeleine

There are two of. I agree with your vision. I think it's beautiful, simple but elegant, and versatile. But my partner much prefers the one we currently have in first. She thinks yours is TOO simple. I don't want it to be busy or complicated. but if there is a way to change her mind at all, I want to try! lol

"The first logo you submitted had a great wow factor with the hair that kind of looked like leaves. The issue is that it also looked too much like straight hair. Something like that would still be wonderful if there were a way to make it so the hair wasn't straight? Maybe if it was mostly made of leaves and flowers or something like that?" - the hair was drawn indeed from flowing leaves and my intention was to emphasize the natural aspect of your business and the natural "goddess". I'm sorry you saw the hair to straight, but is flowing. About your partner... I cannot change her thoughts, I just try to say my opinion as specialist in the field. But I'm glad you understood my point. Regards, Madeleine

Unfortunately, since we are trying to convey an ethnical ambiguity, straight hair (even when it's meant to be leaves) may be perceived as portraying a white woman as more important than all of our other customers. Which, of course, we don't want to do.

I understand. Thank you for explaining. I'll try to work on the project to make the hair having a more wow factor. Regards, Madeleine

Like I said, if you had another idea too, feel free to submit that as well. Thanks so much for everything :)

Can we see #103 without the circle? And can you show us a variety of colors?

So with the same size and relation to the name as #171 :)

Hi, I really don't understand... it is funny because #103 it is a very simple design, even more simple than #171... as you told me yesterday, your business partner wants something more "wow" and now you asked me to show you few versions based on #103. If I may asking you, what is going on? Back to the new drafts, it is #103 with different colors combination and having the same relation and size with the text as #171. Regards, Madeleine
10 years ago

We've agreed on the simpler design because we can use various colors on our packaging and everything. She threw me for a loop when she said we should go with the even simpler version, but I won't fight it!
I'm sorry, what I meant by various colors was various single colors, just like how you did #103 as one color for the entire logo. But she wants to see it in different single colors to make sure she likes how it looks in the different colors. The idea is to do packaging similar to Nubian Heritage as an example, where the label is a different color based on the product or scent, and the logo and all other type is a color that goes with that label color. I reminded her that your logo is the one that is versatile enough to handle being different colors and still look just as good.

Oh, I understand :) I saw Nubian Heritage packaging and I assure you, my design fits perfect to them. I'll post you few different one color versions for you to see the its versatility. Thank you for explaining to me. Regards, Madeleine

No problem! I am sorry to be going back and forth. But I think when I finally explained how we can use your logo to do what she said she wanted to do a long time ago, she came around :) The other logo is pretty, but it isn't right for what we want to do.

Probably you are wondering why I choose all these color schemes. This is for you (and your business partner) to see how the design works on different backgrounds and color combination. I pick up the colors specific for Nubian Heritage packaging. I think it looks beautiful! What do you think? Regards, Madeleine
10 years ago

Gorgeous! Thank you so much :)
I think my partner will agree. Since we're just starting, we currently print our own labels, so it'll be a color logo on a white background for now, but it's so nice to see how they'll look and grow with us when grow :)

You are very welcome. I told you the design would look great! Always simple is better :) I'm really happy you like it and I hope your partner will like it too. Of course, you can choose any color to print it on white. I just wanted you to visualize the versatility of it! Regards, Madeleine

I agree with you 100%. I wanted the more simple design and just had to try very hard to convince her why it was best :)
