Color Preferences
We thought about red and black, e.g. having "off" in red, but that seems a bit to negative. We would rather leave the choice of colors to your discretion.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
MOST IMPORTANT: the logo should contain a message
The logo will go on the web and the surrounding background will be most probably white.

We really like the logo of the similarly themed resource reSTART - http://www.netaddictionrecovery.com/ - good logo that contains a message
some graphical elements you can also find here: http://www.daytodisconnect.com/index.php

Some of the ideas we had (sort of in the order of preference):
1) having a human figure on the logo (as in the example above from http://www.netaddictionrecovery.com) that A) unplugs the modular connector out of the wall socket OR leaves his computer and gadgets behind his back and goes towards a groups of other people – i.e. trying to communicate the message that one should leave the virtual reality and embrace the joys of real world (the challenge here is surely not to overload the logo with details)
2) have the website name "written" in original font - letters composed by a twisted ethernet (internet network) cable, where modular connector [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modular_connector] ends the "g" in the ".org" - but such logo should not be too much playful, since our audience will be quite serious about the addiction problem and there is nothing fun about it.
3) simple logo with broken / torn cable

IDEALLY we would love to have a logo that sends the positive message encouraging people to think/realize that they should spend less time online. No need to include negative images of green-faced addicts in front of the computer - the philosophy and content of the portal will be focused on the positive side of HOW to beat the addiction and get back to real life.
