We just made 2 slight changes to the Contest Brief:
1) We removed the slogan. It was only there to give a feel of the site, we didn't want it used as part of the logo design. So it's now removed from the brief.

2) While our site is GeekFor.com, we no longer want the .com as part of the logo.

Thanks!

#1 Great start. Simple and cute. We'd like to see it without the .com, and also in all lowercase. So just: geekfor.

#2 A bit too cluttered for our taste and the character looks more like a rock star than a geek, so not really in line with what we're looking to convey.

Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage more participation.
~~ Ranking designs daily will also keep your contest from getting cluttered.
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you are going to see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested"
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Ranking is a non-monetary means of showing appreciation for designers hard work.
~~ Designers earn points for ranked designs. We like to earn points.

1st place - 50 points
2nd place - 20 points
3rd place - 10 points
4-6th place - 5 points
7-10 place - 3 points
10th on - 1 point

FYI... I've been leaving specific comments on each designer's logo page.

Also, please don't feel handcuffed into using a nerdy character or geeky glasses. We're open to all ideas and want to see how creative and unique some of you guys can be. Thanks!

In reference to entry #38 , of course we like that one since it resembles such a successful logo (San Diego Comic Con), but we wanted to point out that it displays a few different approaches than what we've seen already in this contest. It's composition isn't as straight-forward, and it doesn't rely solely on a simplistic font and pair of geek glasses. We obviously can't use #38, but wanted to leave it up here for a bit to show that we're not completely married to the straight "geek glasses" motif.

As we near the end of this contest, we've gone in and re-ranked a bit. Unfortunately we haven't really seen too many logos that work for us. So we'd love to see a lot more, different logos that really vary things up. To help, please try to follow these 3 points:

1) Yes, we like green, but we're not married to it. We are definitely open to most colors and would like to see some different ones.

2) Just because a number of the top entries (and the bulk of all) had nerdy glasses, doesn't mean your logo needs to. It's definitely NOT a requirement to have glasses in the logo, and again, we'd love to see lots more choices without them.

3) Don't feel handcuffed into having to use some funny, geeky character. You don't even need to necessarily use any sort of character icon. A very cool font with some interesting technique could work just as well.

Thanks very much!
