First entry. Played around with the letters, but I wanted to avoid the obvious and make it unique. Presented in b/w to show the strength without any added disturbance. Feedback appreciated.
When I first set up my website I had a similar look. The X's inter connected with both / as one long part of an integrated X. I'm not too keen on the thicker X look, but the dual color is interesting. I certainly want to make the X's the focus along with a shutter look of the O in eXposure. Maybe a "painted" look of the X's with them being different colors? I know it's soooo hard to get a really great look. Hope my comments are helping and not confusing you.
Entry #19 and #20 are much better! I'm liking this type of effect. I like how #19 uses one X with name stacked, however not sure how that would look as a header? The .com on both 'might' be portraid by some as another word such as "pcom"? Then again maybe not. Gotta think about that one.
As far as refining the look goes... I'd like to see how the X's look in various forms of artist paintbrush... Maybe the on side of the X that goes ( / ) way is slightly longer and then another one with the other side of the X ( \ ) longer. Maybe putting a more "narrow" X from #19 into #20? Hope that makes sense. I REALLY like the extra "splashes" of wet paint above/below the X's without it being too silly. Nice job.
Another refinement would be color combinations and how many letters are different colored. Either way this is the general look I'm leaning toward with your design. But I don't want to lead us down a path if you have other ideas or suggestions. Want to keep my options open.
Not sure if I stated so (and looks like you're doing it), but eXacteXposure is all lower case with X's being caps... Noticed others were capitalizing the E. I don't want this.
Also, maybe colors like on my website with white, blue and yellow shades... Just thought of this. But don't want to limit you to other colors you might like.
Hi there :) Here's another entry, same style but with different brushed X's, this time in blue. I'll also upload one on black background which matches your web. I'm going to greece for a few days, and want be able to contribute until the last day before this project closes. So if my design is still under consideration I will certainly adjust my design according to your feedback. PS: I noticed that you had some nice photos from Santorini - breathtaking island :) I used to work from my sailboat for one and a half year sailing the greek islands and through the Med. Crossed the Atlantic last summer for the Caribbean. Ended up in Virginia (US) after one and a half year at sea where I left my boat on land. Going back this autumn. Just felt like sharing :) Anyway, I'm off to Greece :) I wish you the best of luck.
I really like the last few you sent... #37, #38, #39. The colors are 'better' (not that I didn't like the orange and black). I like the idea of #39 with the "people" in the logo along with the shutter for the 'o'. I 'might' like the X'es the same -vs- different, but again that is small stuff (maybe more like #20, but taller and more narrow (and maybe a person shape)). But just brainstorming right now. I'm really liking your ideas and like the "with David Lyons". I could almost go for a tagline instead, but can't think of anything (and guess I can always add that later... but suggestions welcome).
I love Santorini and actually want to go back in autumn myself... Think late October when crowds are down and foliage still up. Won't be able to do it this year or maybe even next, but definitely in the future. Have a great time in Greece and if you can spare time to fine-tune or give other ideas PLEASE do. I like the way you think... Similarly to me of course :-)
Getting comments that (especially #39) the X'es look like I'm into fitness or something. Like they are figures and not X'es. Trying to get comments from friends and clients. One client from Dallas stated: "David, not exactly sure what I am supposed to do, but they are all just ok. They all need more PUNCH. more vibrancy. Just my thought."
