Thanks for all the amazing submissions! I really like #51, #47, #50 and #59. I really like the use of the "3" as in to the power of... I'd love to see some more variations on that theme. Also. on #51, I like it but not the font. Also.. I dont like the green frwd/rewind buttons, it should be a play button.
#47 is great, same comment about the fast forward button in the image.
#59 is cool, but the cube image is too vague, would like to see more like that.
#46 - didnt list this as a fav, but wondered what it would look like if all three said Video instead of just the green one?

Thanks!

Thanx for the feedback Marc, I appreciate it! On #51 I used that particular font b/c it looked very modern/futuristic and techno for the tablets and phones. It also allowed me those squarish oval spaces in the 'd' and 'o' for the buttons. I totally get the play button thing, I even planned on using the play button on all of the designs, but for some reason the fast forward button just looked cooler. Also for the same reason FedEx uses the white arrow in their logo I was thinking fast forward, or forward thinking company like yours would be. I suppose play would do the same thing in moving your company forward, but suppose fast forward says there's a future way up there, you're thinking way ahead like we'll be around for the long haul, full length of the video so to speak. I will try #51 with some other fonts, are there any fonts you'd like to see, as in other companies whose font you really like the style of?
Maybe on #47 I can do something chrome looking for the play button so it isn't so plain, unless you think simple is best and just want to see the screen with the simple play arrow with the cubed 3 out there.
I also liked the feel of #59, the idea of the negative space giving the illusion of the cube along with the 3 point star in the center. Is there a particular monitor shape or tablet shape you like that I might try as the background as well as the simple monitor shape I used?
On #46, all three would make it very busy unless I ghosted the other two. I could also try one of the other colors as the 'ideo' so it might read better since the green is light. I just liked how the red and blue V framed the Green one in the middle. and wanted to keep the RGB in that order. I also liked that the V's were like motion like video running, just wish there was a way to make them move forward rather than down. Kind of where my #49 idea came from, the same 'V' for video turn and moving like a play button, or in this case multiple plays.
Thanx again for the feedback and I will work some more on these this weekend and get them uploaded. What was it about the one you have ranked 1st that you liked the most so that i might get mine more in line with that one or with your tastes?

Brian,
Thanks for the insightful response. In regards to the fast forward button vs play button... what I am selling is video views and while you put great thought into the reason for using FF and the company being forward thinking.. the video view/play itself is most important as people will click to play the video and dont want them to FF which would suck. So.. "PLAY" is def the angle I want to take and stay away from FF. cool?

#51 - maybe its the red that is throwing me off, maybe try it in black or blue? I like the two-tone look, can you have it fade into the darker color vs. just switch? Maybe a few different "3"s as well? I don't have any specific fonts at this point to suggest.

#47 - like your suggestions and lets see plain and chromed play button. Any other images vs the roundish tv looking one you used? Not sure if the "3" works here... I like the font.. maybe use this one for a new version of #51?

#59 - Maybe try using a tablet around the cube instead? And try it to the left of the logo and.. to the left of the logo and stack the logo with Cubed on top and Video below?

Here's an interesting thought I just had... What do you think about taking the word "Video" and moving it up to look like the word is "cubing" the word Cubed. Make sense? Basically... if you use #51, the word would be Cubed and where the "3" is now, it would say "Video".

#46 - kill it.. not my fav and dont want to have you waste time.

As far as the #1 ranking.. not sure I have them in the exact ranking order of favs, but what I like about it is the use of a cube and being able to show a smartphone, tablet, web on each side.

Thanks!!!

#103, #105, #106 are variations of the chrome or 3D play button I mentioned and on the tablet screen instead of curved monitor shape on a few of them.

#104 is a new image but similar concept with the cube being cut out of the oval instead of screen to make an eyeball, the color of the iris is the screen behind it and makes the cube. Since video is visual media I think the eye makes a great icon, represents your product well. You can go in many directions with an eye.

#107, #108, #109 and #110 are variations of #51 with the word 'Video' with the '3' top right or with play buttons replacing the FF and Rewind buttons. I gave you different color options, lost the red text, it was pretty washed out looking compared to these richer deeper colors. I try to get the 3 in the logo somewhere on most of these, whether it be 3 bars, 3 arrows, the 3 colors (RGB), etc...

#111 is an abstract "to the 3rd power" with the "3" arrows circling around in the shape of a handheld device, the arrows are colored in RGB, the arrows directions draw your eye nicely back around to your name and then naturally back through the name subconsciously and so visually looping like film.

#112, #113, #114 are variations of #59 with the cube abstractly cut from the screen, one of those the stacked option you asked about with screen to left of text.

#115 is a new concept, but using the same tablet image. The hand is basically negative space cut away from the blue and black giving the illusion of the arm and hand touching the screen and showing "3" rings coming from the finger tip. This touching of the screen can really represent the phone, the tablet and the monitor, the screen size being the more like the middle size or the tablet.

#116 is a similar idea to the #111 with the arrows in a circular or rectangular shape. "3" of the arrows are blue, tying in with the word "cubed" while the one black arrow matching "video" is coming around and facing forward like a play button, some cool stuff going on in this one even though it is very simple. (sometimes simple is best)

#117 is a fun one with the aperture icon showing a hint of the cube in the middle with the white "3" point star finishing the illusion, all in the middle of the tablet screen.

#119 and #120 are fun in that they take the old video countdown screen at the point it is on "3" and freeze it and in one of them it is placed conveniently where the 3 would be when you cube something.

Hope you enjoy the updates and please let me know what else you want to see from these new posts.
Thanx Marc!

I also like how on #105 the 'b' and the 'd' in the name visually line up with the left and right sides of the tablet, although most won't consciously notice these sorts of things it does give it a visual balance...

on #120 i went back in after my last comment and lower cased the C and V so that the b and the d would be more noticeable and with those being lower case it was more difficult to visually separate the two words so I added the color blend from the center out. I also shrunk the play button in the middle a little bit so it wasn't the focal point as much as the tablet.

Thanks again for the time and effort...
#114 - VERY cool! though I am still not in love with the negative space cube.
- can you try this one with no logo?
- can you make one with no logo and a "3" for the "e" in "Video"?
#119 - Great concept, can you try one with just name and the "3" (no film)?
#111 - very cool!

Thanks!

on #114, do you just want the text on one then? I can do other icons, like maybe just a simple tablet image, I can add a glare to the frame and screen to make it a little more complete or 3D looking and not just a black framed blue square. As for the '3' in place of the 'E' in video I will do this but don't be surprised if I am asked to remove it by the designer who came up with that idea originally, b/c on Logo Tournament the first person to come up with a concept or idea usually sort of owns it. I think it can work in your design there to where you don't need a mark to go along with the typographic logo and I would hate to lose the contest if it is something you like that i can't deliver for that reason. I will say that you get to work with the top 5 designers for another few days after the open round is complete so I am happy to put together whatever looks you want to see so that you get the mark that best represents your company.
Thanx for the props on #111, I hope you like it based off my description of it's symbolism.
I'll make the revision on #119 and get it uploaded.
Thanx again for the feedback Marc! very few contest holders give good feedback, some are only active enough to rank the logos. We all like feedback so we can give you the best designs to choose from.

#192 and #193 - I didn't want to use the 3 as the 'E' just to be safe so I used it as the 'B' since it can pass just as easily for the B than the E, and it is sort of unexpected and makes ya double take (I think we all want people to double take our logo / identity)
#185 - This one is like the one you have in 1st but without the negative space cube, a stack of the three devices instead with a little glare across them for depth, like I mentioned in the comment above.
#190 - an entirely different idea than the others, but with the letters from both words centered horizontally given it a fun feel.
#198 - No one had placed the logo on the actual device that I could remember seeing anyway so thought this would at least give you a look at that idea with the fonts I used in the one you have sitting 1st.
Thanx!

This is right from the website:

Requests or ideas you have put in your contest Brief are fair game and open to everyone. Concepts that are considered obvious will also be fair game, for example: a dog & cat for a pet hospital, shopping bag for an e-commerce company, a tooth for a dentist, initials for a lawyer, etc.

So i would think that a "3" in place of the "e" when I said I wanted "3"s and "cubes" makes it fair game and obvious. thoughts?

Plus a few designers have done this already as well for the B, why not the E?

Logo Designer
A lot of the designers had withdrawn their entries already when i did my two designs so I had no idea at that point what everyone had done and didn't remember seeing the B before mine. I always keep mine up until the contest ends for this reason b/c even if they're greyed out you can still hover over them to see the full color images and see what to avoid...

I don't mind doing a 3 for the E at all, just had several contests where designers threatened me with logo court if I didn't remove logos even when i was not influenced by theirs and when it wasn't really that close to theirs in my opinion. This has even happened when their entry was ranked ahead of mine to where it obviously didn't hurt them that I had done something similar. I was being safe on this one, hehee

I will put some together with the E as well. I want to do what I can to maintain that 1st place Gold and get you what you like, we can continue fine tuning clear up to the end. I love the concept behind this website it's so cool but it is so difficult to win these contests when it's a popular contest like yours. Some get like 30 logos to choose from and some get well over 200, it's like trying to win on eBay with a last second bid when someone is on the other side running the dollar amount up, ha!

Thanx for the feedback Marc!

I think of the ones I just uploaded #248 is the coolest and most logo looking one, but unfortunately I was so reluctant to upload any of the ones with the 3 straightforward b/c I know there is that chance you'll like it and the first person that used a 3 in the name will ask me to remove it. Then I might lose my spot all together.
I think it looks cool so i am willing to chance it. Let me know what ya think and if it's not your fav just decline it all together so it gets lost.
Thanx Marc!

Who was it? I want to make sure he is correct and not just saying it..

it's the guy who just moved ahead of me and he is correct, he is #79 and #80, I had a feeling that would happen if you liked that concept of going with a typographic logo where the cubed 3 was within the name. I thought that logo I did turned out so cool too, the video 3 blasting out to the 3rd power with the motion lines. I think his logo is good but hate that a 3 E is an obvious thing and that I didn't do it sooner.
I'll continue working on concepts using the 3 in the name somehow since there will be a few more days for top 5 guys to design.
Thanx Marc!

Its OK that you use a backwards "3" as the E in Video? Could you use that with the last design where it swooped/swished up to the 3 cubed???

Logo Designer
I would think I could do that too, like I did on #249, b/c that is an obvious element that others should be fair game. I will definitely do that, anything to get some Christmas for my kiddos, ha!
I am away from my files for a few hours so as soon as I get to my desk I will get that file re-uploaded and some other variations. Any colors you want to see in that design besides the blue/black combo?
I wish there was a way to make the E morph or blend into the 3 like I did on #248, the one I had to pull, instead of having to do all those little in between steps/shapes. It's still cool looking to see that the E and 3 are the same digit and flipping or changing into each other around the O.
When you check this evening I should have some more up.
Thanx!

lets stick to the colors we have for now.. It makes more sense to stay 2-color for when i want to have stuff printed and it would be more cost effective 2-tone vs. 3+ colors. We can always tweak the blue to something else if i decide.
Im away for a few hours too.. but around 5-9pm.

Hey there Marc, sorry about not being able to get on and add more designs. My account got disabled today for pretty much the entire day.
What do you think about a character, like sort of an abstract guy almost robotic or half machine but said in a simple way, not much detail? I am thinking about "the POWER of 3" and the word 'power' keeps coming to mind, the idea of how powerful a video is if it can be shared via all these devices, spread all over the world practically and so far nothing has really screamed "power" of 3 with what is up right now. I am also having to try to get my place back since i am knocked out of the hardware, ha!
I know you had lots of logo types that you put up there on your brief that you'd like to see tried, and I am thinking some sort of silhouetted figure with a monitor head holding a tablet in one hand and a phone in the other, maybe arms up in the air, maybe a glow about him, etc.

#396 has the greyish fading circle added around the red arrow so you can see it equally as play button and inside panel of opened top box or cube. I shrunk the text a bit on this one, similar to what the designer in 1st place did and used the font you seemed to like the most on my designs. I really like the emphasis on the red play button, it says your business is 'on' and moving forward.
Let me know if you want to see any tweaks on this one, variations. I really like how it turned out.

I also gave you a few of the ones with the "B" 3 fading into the 3 upper right like it's moving there with power.

#396 can be laid out in this taller sort of squarish format as well as like #388, longer and stretched, depending on how you need to use it on different media or print. It's not a bad idea to have one that works for both tall skinny spots and wide spots...

#398 - Since all of the media that your videos will play on have B's in them - moBile - taBlet - weB I added the 3's in place of those as well and modified the large 3 so that I could use that 3 below and them be more convincing B's...

ah jeah! the magic #400, ha! On this one I liked where it was going so I wanted to give it some more time. Okay, you didn't have slogan on your brief, looks as if you were waiting on that for after you choose a logo. On this logo I added a slogan for ya so you could sort of see how a short sweet one under it might look when you choose to use them together. The font can change but wanted a nice hand written one. What I am trying to get across with the "Push to Play" is like "Push Toward Play" Have fun with life, enjoy a video or whatever, but you're also telling them "push to play" as in push the play button that you conveniently have in your logo doubling as the inside of the box. You going to either click one on the web or physically push the button on hand held touch screens so it has some depth I think...
Thoughts?
Thanx Marc!
