Logo Designer
hello,
i just want to say thanks for taking the time and effort to wite up such a comprehensive breif and collect all those logo samples, it makes our job so much easier =)

so, i came up with this modern and stylized CG lettermark. i then went through it and added a whole heap of little imperfections to it, rounded the corners etc, to give it a hand drawn (organic) feel.
i went with a contemporary and distinctive typeface, the main reason for this is that when i think "magazine typeface" the first thing that comes to mind is a slab serif like this one.
any feedback on this would be great =)
thanks!

typeface option, to me this typeface has always had a real "design-ey" feel to it.

Hi Bugy,

Thanks for taking the time to submit to our competition.

Entry #130 to #136: I really like the typeface (not #136) and the .com on edge. While the mark has the modern clean look we are after, we want avoid any marks that re-use the "CG" in the mark as we find it redundant as it's already used in the name.

Looking forward to seeing some more concepts. Be sure to check out the comments on the current ranked logos too.

Cheers,
Jeff

Forgot to mention. For now just concentrate on nailing down a concept and then we can look at multiple variations. I just want to be sure you don't waste any unnecessary time.

I've been reviewing all of my shortlisted entries and this typeface is by far my favorite! Nice work. Really looking forward to seeing if we can get a mark or treatment for this typeface.

here is a more abstract mark for your consideration

Although it's completely different that what we had been thinking, I actually really like entry #143. I like the suggestion of a cube with the edges reordered. If you have anything else down this road, would love to see some more.

here is a slight variation on #142, the icon is slightly rotated to make the cube element stand out a bit more

grayscale of the cube concept
i know you said not to bother with all the variations but the colours are an important part of the design so im trying to narrow down which ones you like =)

and another icon based off the same idea but with a more abstract shape (and another colour scheme for your consideration)
feedback on these would be great, meanwhile ill see if i can come up with any other different concepts for you =)

Thanks for the additional concepts.

My favorites are #143, #146 and #150. I can't decide which one I prefer just yet.

Entry #148: I think the addition of the colors reduced the effect of the logo and the cube shape.
Entry #149: I prefer the green over the blue version.
Entry #151: I think the original shape works better as it has the suggestion of a cube.

Cheers,
Jeff

Could you mock up a few variations for me to review:

1. #146 with the mark the same size as #143
2. #146 in black and also in white. If you can I'd like to try to preserve the shading on the mark, unlike #150 where it's been removed. I also want to see the text preserve the shade separation between CG and architect.

I want to see the above to see how this logo and shading look when we would use it as color, in black or white to make sure this shading concept works.

Is there a gradient on the text? It looks like there is, but I can't tell from this size. I think there is shading on the mark too on the edges. Very subtle right?

Cheers,
Jeff

yea there is subtle shading on both text and icon in #146, the earlier submissions had shading on the icon only.

hey Jeff,
here is a variation on the cube icon, i have tried to make it a bit more organic by rounding the corners off, this was as much as i could round it before the cube shape started to get lost - beyond this it just looked like random blobs

Thanks! So far everyone loves your concept, myself included, as I think it has a lot of potential in an overall brand package. Am still madly providing feedback to all of the new submissions coming in, but so far there has not been too many that look like they could unseat yours yet. Once the dust settles if yours is still #1 then we'll have to sit down and really look over each version carefully.

Cheers,
Jeff
