What We Do
BrighterSelf is a non-profit organization that provides free 24-7 online chat counseling to anyone suffering from depression.

Color Preferences
Brighterself should communicate postive transformation, hope and empowerment. It should convey a spirit of release, coming out and progress. My intuition suggests colors like a subtle yellow, darker orange or light red, but you are completely free and encouraged to try anything you like.

Regarding #1

Hey tdewell, looks nice. I think it slighlty misses what I envision though. A few suggestions.

1) Shorter, rounder font.
2) Colors are nice, but per my update, you might want to experiment with blues.
3) Regarding the image, "reaching for a star", I'd like something that conveys something more "internal" in the student undergoing counseling. A "self-overcoming" rather than reaching for something external or material.

Keep up the good work.

Hi! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage participation.
~~ Rank and re-rank a variety of designs to get a variety of new entries.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed! Unless your contest is private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Ranking designs daily will also keep your contest from getting cluttered.
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you are going to see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested"
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Ranking is a non-monetary means of showing appreciation for designers hard work.
~~ Designers earn points for designs ranked in the top 10. We like to earn points.

~~ NOTE: While in JUDGING mode, the designer ranked in 1st can still submit revisions.

Hey Brendan,

A few suggestions:

Regarding # 2,

Like the creativity of the "lifeline" concept, but don't think it quite matches with the site name. I'm thinking of something more radiating from the self, some sort of positivity emanating outwards. The font is young, but it appears a little too "futuristic"

Regarding # 3,

Like the font, but color scheme a little too much. Would prefer 3-4 colors max, with more subtle variations in tone. The logo is okay, but think it looks too much like the Olympics.

Thanks, and keep up with good work!

Hey Everybody,

Thanks for all the excellent designs so far. A couple general suggestions...

1) Not a big fan of stars...

2) Keep in mind the site is unisex. In general, I think logo should be a bit more masculine, a site that guys feel comfortable visiting too.

3) Try not to be too happy! The purpose of the site is to make people feel safe, happier and more confident, but I don't want to demean their situation by being too happy. The logo should be a bit subdued and gently radiate a feeling of warmth, well-being and personal freedom.

4) Contrary to what I suggested earlier, don't use too much blue.

Hey Everybody,

Thanks for all the great work! I'm really impressed!

A few final suggestions before the contest ends.

*I want something that's simple, optimistic and expansive, but not too "showy" or "bright". I want a logo that is universal, applies to all college students -male and females, athletes and nerds.

* I have a particular design in mind. I'd like all of you to try it. I really like how #54 incorporated the image of "sun-man" into the text itself (again, I want to accentuate text, and have the design subtly reinforce the name "brighterself"). I'd like you guys to try a pure "text logo", where only the "B" resembles an image. So the "B", in brighterself, could be anything -a sun, smile, person, abstract image, whatever.

Please get back to me if you have any questions, and good luck!
