Good Morning Anne, I love #141. I love the way you did the eagle with a kind of arch that matches the swoosh. It really feels like it has great movement and taking flight. I would only change the wing to be more convex in the back like the eagle I sent, and to have the beak as well. So I took your picture, and put my eagle's wing and beak on it to see if it will work. Here it is: http://i49.tinypic.com/xp3don.png Feel free to tweak it of course to your liking and with your expertise.
This will be the final design revision as I believe we are there. I can't thank you enough and will provide stellar reviews anywhere and everywhere I can, so please let me know what i can do.
Its a bit hard to see it in this small size on screen (your tinipic picture is a bit bigger), but its there and I will upload a picture with only the eagle so you can see.. Im afraid to make it too big because it wont look natural with the eagle on print.
Thank you very much for the "likes" on my Facebook page! And I would love to connect with you on Linked In and I would be very very happy if you, when you have the time of course, if you would write me an recommandation on my work on Linked In :)
#142 is beautiful! Yes, the beak I think will help it look more distnictly like an eagle. The more prominant far side wing makes it look like the bird is more angled towards us, and I kind of prefer the more direct side view as we have in #141. Would it be possible to adjust that a little where the second wing shows just a little, maybe not just the one tiny feather from the pictures we were working with, but close?
And more white space between the feathers in the main wingtip will also make it more distinctly eagle. I know its hard because it is so small, but I think its important.
I know its being picky, but the beak coming more from the front of the head will look more like an eagle. As if the bird is looking up more. It's hard to explain, do you know what I mean? I think it shows in the picture that I sent.
I really hope you don't mind Anne, but I made the changes to your eagle myself based on what I envisioned and think I got it just right -- got lucky? Please, is it possible just to use this one? It's yours, I just cut and moved stuff around to illustrate what I was suggesting above, and it came out exacltly the way I want it.
I just knew that I was being way too picky and making it really hard on you to get exactly what I wanted, so I thought I should help as much as possible. I never could have gotten anywhere close without your creative design, vision, and expertise, so I think it was a good way to do it. I take no credit whatsoever.
Thank you I need all the help I can get with this bird ;) Its hard because it looks good when Im working on it up close but when I zoom it down it looks completely different.. But Im not giving up and will continue until its perfect!!!
You're great Anne. True, the shape of the wing in #145 just isn't quite right, the shape is good in #142, and I just took it and cut out more between the wing tips, mostly deeper into the wing, so it looked way too much close up, but when shrunk seemed to look okay. It's in the one I put no tinypic. Same wing as #142, I just exagerated the white space.
The wing in #145 just isn't shaped as naturally, it's too square at the tip, and the back concaves again instead of convex. I really think the main wing of #142 is perfect with the extra white space.
I think cutting that last feather out to give some roundness and concavity to the back of the wing, will do the trick.
And it maybe also now given the size of the bird that the swoosh needs to be thickened more (more 3D), because you originally made that to match the very tiny airplane.
I'm thinking that if we cannot get the bird and swoosh just right, lets try putting the bird from #139 on the cover of the book in background to the compass. Subtle, but at least the bird is there.
I think I just can't quite get there with the bird, and collegue also. I'm sorry, but my original idea of having the bird from the side angle like the airplane must be just fundamendally flawed. Out of all of them, going back to your #139 is our best bet at this point...
I'm inclined to go with #139, and may just want to look at that idea of just the book and put the #139 bird in behind th compass as a last attempt at something different.
Just in case we go with only the book, I think having that bird image subtley behind the compass, i.e. just place it there and "send it back" one or two levels will be a good fall back for #139. Otherwise #139 is the final choice.
Here they are.. You cant see it to well because of the size..
I have one last idea for the bird, do you have an scanner? If so I can upload a bigger picture of the bird and you can draw the changes and then I cam make it like that.
U see, the png that you had with changes is to small..
I understand about what I sent, but you know what, #151 looks absolutely awesome to both my collegue and I, which is a miracle! So all has lead to this. The way it came out, looks even better than I had imagined because the compass and bird together came out looking very Native American, even if it doesn't look like a compass so easily. So we are there!!!!
I really love it! and I think it captures all that we were hoping for!!! So I am going to choose it as the winner, and all the files and stuff I guess you will be sending to peter@blackbooktravel, which is great because he will be here while I am gone in Peru.
Anne you have gone well above and beyond, and I just can't thank you enough! We love all your work and will defenitely recommend you going forward, and any other work we need.
Before I lock it in as the winner though, because of last time, I just want to make sure that you are happy with it. In other words, is it clear enough to show something in black and white and so on? If you feel that you need to make the compass and eagle area lighter or more contrast or whatever, I am open to that. Or you can just send that with the files? But #151 is great to me and Peter.
You let me know. I have time to go do some stuff before I start driving to Los Angeles in a few hours.
And I like that it actually is very subltle and dark, to keep the secret little black book concept and feel, yet the medicine of the eagle is there too, and the subtle compass for travel. great!!
Im soo happy that you love it!!!!! The more I look at it I see that it captures the secret little black book much much better the the flying eagle! And it even works in black and white as well.. :) #154
Phu, Im really happy that you find it perfect! I never doubted that we would reach our goal in finding the perfect logo for you! Never giving up is my one of my philosophies and it never goes wrong!
I totally agree on #151 as the winning design :) I will upload that one here on LT and if it looks good, please dont forget to approve it.
In addition to these I will be available on my email misjami@gmail.com with whatever you need of files, additional work or anything else you might need!!
Thank you so much again! Its been an absolute pleasure to work with you Jon and I hope we can stay in touch in the future!
I wish you an amazing and adventurous trip to Peru!
I will go ahead and lock #151 in as the winner now then. Such a great pleasure to work with you, and your heart and soul and energy and enthusiasm made all the difference. And Peter says so as well. I do look forward to working again in the future, and staying in touch. I will say hello to Peru for you!
