Here is my first design for your new logo.. Hope you like it and I will be happy to modify if you have any other suggestions for colors, fonts or layout etc.
I like the look of the book, and wonder what the logo would look like with the book partially openning, and with a locket (and key?) and light eminating from the openning. Kind of on it's side and looking down at it from and angle.
Thank you very much for the feedback and the ranking! :) Im so glad you like it! I have tried to make another variation of the book, its not so easy to make it exact as its difficult to illustrate the same thing twice.. Hope this is more the direction you wanted, and if so, ill be happy to work on it further.
This is getting closer, see my general comments. I would move the lock and key onto the edge of the cover like an open clasp, and make the light beam out more pronounced. Emboss it more on the cover as well, maybe a sacred symbol, or fancy compass. And make it look a little more real than cartoon.
Thank you, I will continue the work on the book and add all the details :) Its now 4 in the morning over here and tomorrow is Norways national day so we'll be out celebrating, but I hope I will find the time tomorrow evening to continue! :)
Love the book style in #42! Hard to say what I would change here. It is really catchy. Since the background is white, I understand it may be difficult to get a glow coming from the pages, but I like how there is a slight glow on the center of the cover itself, and wonder what i might look like to enhance that a little. Also, perhaps the size of the book could be a little less relative to the size of the font. And I like the lines either side of travel, and in one of the other designs the lines are tapered, so wonder if you could try that and maybe increase the size of the word TRAVEL a little relative to the BLACK BOOK.
My best skills in graphic design does not lay in illustration, but been trying it out now in your contest and I am really starting to like it! So I feel very happy that you actually like my work!
I been working on the glow too, (and yes then it might have another color on the background) but I feel im not quite there yet with the quality.. Im still learning, but will upload a variation if I get it right ;)
An I will also upload #42 with the changes requested as soon as finished!
Thank you Anne! Great effort and skill for graphic design not being your main thing. Please try some things without the book as well, since we are kind of exploring that possibility too as I put in my general comments.
Thank you and what an great idea with the eagle!! Its sort of in the same category as the old mysterious book instead of a an hypermodern flying machine!!! Why didnt I think of that!! Lol..
I will definitely try it out and upload as soon as possible! :)
thank you Anne, and can you make the book about half as thick? I got a comment that it and other look a little too much like bibles. :) Maybe that is why also a embossed looking compass image on the cover might help. Cheers!
Very cool Anne, beautiful work and thank you for the great effort! We can work with #65 with some minor changes. I would probably make the the book thinner still and the bird about half as big and in line with the swoosh (like your original plane) and slightly more side vew with wings tucked like in a dive. Kind of like this shape if you rotated it to the left 90% so it is heading up instead of down of course and tilted away more: http://www.fredmiranda.com/hosting/showphoto.php?photo=57244&sort=1&cat=3693&page=1
Thank you very much! I really enjoy working with you and this logo!! Really an exiting contest!! And thanks for your suggestions.. I will upload new updated versions as soon as possible :)
Could I please ask you to explain a bit more how you want to see the eagle? Cause the swoosh kinda makes the eagle fly upwards and not down if you see what I mean.. The swoosh is like the "speedstripes" so the eagle is just following the lines.. Hope this make any sense to you ;)
Thank you Anne! Yes, the eagle should follow right in line with the swoosh heading upwards, I just couldn't quite find the picture showing it that direction. Just like the one you have with the airplane. The difference is that the eagle's wings would be kind of tucked, like in the links i sent. When I copied the picture out of the link and put it in photoshop and rotated it 90 degrees to the left, then the angle was good, I just don't know how to post that here. But I you understand, it will be heading upward right in line with the swoosh.
And instead of looking at it directly overhead where both sides of the bird are symmetrical, instead it is like we are looking at it from a 45 degree angle, so more to the side, Again, kind of like the airplane, except both wings would show. I hope that's clear.
We really love your design, and I think with the new bird, thinner book with darker markings and edge highlight it will be awesome!
Awesome Anne! I'm loving #114 and #110! These are really dialed in nicely. I think we will end up thinning the bird wings or tweaking somehow. It got a little chubbier than I expected when shrunk down. But these are great and my partners are chiming in very positively. Thank you so much for the efforts!
Thank you very much!! :) I totally agree with what your saying about the chubby bird.. Lol.. I will put him on a diet right away and upload as soon as finished!
Im struggling a little bit with making changes that look good with the already drawn bird, so I decided to draw a new one to make it look good when scaled down to the right size.
I just wanted to let you know.. :) I will upload as soon as possible.
Hi Anne! Would you mind taking #19 and making some tweaks? What I'd love to do it take the key out of the center...in fact lose key altogether. Then thin the book out a bit more and lose the gold highlight. Then make the book smaller and have it flush left of the type. and equal to the height of both lines of type. Then, can you make the " -Travel- " a shade of teal.
In general looking at making the book thinner and smaller and worn like #19 to get the idea of the "little black book". The bird may still be usable upon that design, it was mainly the book that was throwing us off in the later designs. The elements are there, now just a matter of the right combination and scale. Thank you so much.
Thank you for all the possibilities Anne. We will continue to explore #128. It definitely is the closest to the original ivision of the little black book. I was only recently pointed out that the the book with the glow just reminds some too much of religion, and that hadn't occured to me at all before. My only concern now is how to bring in the slightly shamanic element, and so the bird may come into play somehow, but not sure. Maybe something else very subtle, or just part of the bird emerging from behind the book or like you have done in #130. Or maybe just the tagline of "Awaken to the world's secrets" will suffice.
The teal looks pretty, and we may adjust that when we get more consensus.
Let's try #134 text with the image from #111 on the side. Thank you!
Getting feedback that the bird still needs to look more like and eagle than a swollow or crow and the book needs a tad more luxury back. I think that bird with more white space between the wing-tip feathers, and just some shaven off of the back of the wing to make them a lttle thinner will be ideal.
They opened it up again! Thank goodness! I've sent some messages to you, and will just repeat it hear as well. Thank you again for putting up with this.
Using #110 as the basis:
Make the frame and spine of the book black as in #115 (we like the square in the middle as it is, but I hadn't noticed the book itself was not as black until just now)
Put the color gradient into the word TRAVEL just as in #124.
More white space between the wing tip feathers of the eagle and slightly thinner wings just off of the back of the wings as previously mentioned.
Keep the book graphic on top of the text, but make it overall slightly smaller, maybe a quarter of the way between current size and the size of the ones you put on the side. This will make it less top heavy (which is what made us think to put it on the side, but then that is too long)
Keep the tagline out. We will work with that seperately. Thanks a million!
I have done the changes that you requested and uploaded revisions.
I made two versions: - one with the original colors on the lock, spine and pages on #110, only with new color from #124 on TRAVEL - #136 (More red in color)
- one with the same shade of colors on the lock, spine and pages from #124 to match color on TRAVEL - #137 (More brown in color)
And I have made the eagle thinner with more space between the wings and the book all black exept from the square in the middle. Hope I didnt miss anything..
I really like #139, and I know its really late there, so please get some sleep and if you want to create two more versions of #139 with the eagles I sent, that would be great, and I can look in when you arise.
Can I just please ask if you own the copyrights to these pictures? We are not allowed to use anything that the contestholder dosent own Im afraid for copyright reasons.. But I have drawn a quick scetch that looks almost the same if you dont own the picture..
