By making the circle black it makes it more of a design element than a planet and the primary planetary colors are used in the name instead, so bring it all together. The partial circles can be cool motion graphics parenthesis when the logo is animated, where they come apart, rotate sideways around the ends of the Brand. They can represent the sun setting over water, the moon rising, a boat, a mountain, treetops and roots, etc. The circle doesn't have to be just a planet or earth symbol. 4 years ago I.D.ea Factory commented on #45 I can see this one as a watermark on the bottom of a TV program, I think it works well as a typographic mark with how the L is park of the circle and without the circle being too obvious a planet, and more a design element or enclosure shape that supports and balances the logo. 4 years ago I.D.ea Factory commented on #46 Withdrawn This one has more of a planet shape that my others, as far as more obviously sphere or planet like, but still just an enclosure shape to put the word Planet against. I think a circle works well with a title that has the word Planet in it even if you wanted to avoid planets in general. I don't think there is any one shape or icon that can represent Earth better than a circle without being vague. I used green in elsewhere in the logo so it kept the circle from being an obvious globe or planet. 4 years ago I.D.ea Factory commented on #43 Withdrawn The circles on my designs are more enclosure shapes than planets. I know you said avoid planets, but like the circular example in the style examples you liked in your brief, a circular enclosure just makes sense on a logo with planet in the name, as at least a concept to consider. On this particular logo I have the L in planet as part of the circle so the type is part of the shape and the circle is not just in behind the type. The elements all play well together and all part of the team. The design works well against light and dark backgrounds and works well on various formats where the design will be used: on screen, in print, on apparel, etc. This one allows you to use the Green, Blue, Black, White and Grey color scheme. It can be tweaked a little to where the left side of the circle goes into the open shape of the U, or that opening bent a little like the L to make it a little more visually infinite without a visual break in the circle. 4 years ago
