Our Ideas & Additional Information
My entire web presence is going to be very simple - something along the lines of: http://www.caa.com/
"Bauman Consulting L.L.C." is rather long and skinny, so it may make sense to stack Bauman above Consulting - but this is not a hard requirement, just an idea. Also, it would probably make sense to de-emphasize the LLC part (smaller perhaps, or otherwise de-emphasized).
There could be subtle hints of the notions of "Coding/programming" or "Wire Frame" (http://www.gliffy.com/examples/wireframes/images/wireframe_example.png) to it, but that may be too over the top. It may make more sense to just keep it super simple. Designers discretion.

Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage more participation.
~~ Ranking designs daily will also keep your contest from getting cluttered.
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you are going to see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested"
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Ranking is a non-monetary means of showing appreciation for designers hard work.
~~ Designers earn points for ranked designs. We like to earn points.

1st place - 50 points
2nd place - 20 points
3rd place - 10 points
4-6th place - 5 points
7-10 place - 3 points
10th on - 1 point

More detailed information on how to get the most out of your contest can be found here:

Hi Folks - thanks everyone who has already submitted designs, and thanks to anyone in the future who may be thinking about it. I know I didn't give very much detail in my initial request about what I wanted, so I will use these postings to spit out more ideas and thoughts as they come to me.

So far, some things that I have realized include:

Font - I want the font to be more business professional, instead of web 2.0ish. The blocky font seems to work decently towards this goal, and I suspect serif fonts would also be appropriate.

A bunch of people have gone for the "B C" icon, which seems like a decently good idea - but I have begun to realize that I associate the company more with the "B" than the "C" - so if at all possible, the B should have more emphasis. This is of course only if you are going to the "B C" icon route - which is by no means a requirement.

Still no real preferences on colors at this point. I suspect color is probably one of the easiest things for you guys to change, so hopefully this isn't that big of an issue.

I'm realizing that I have a preference towards "flat" logos, instead of 3D logos that have drop shadows and highlights and such.

Here is an idea that people could try if they want. This definitely falls in the "not your traditional logo" category. I'm not even sold on the idea myself, but I thought it may be fun if it worked out.

The idea is as follows: Make a somewhat complex/detailed visual element, that when zoomed out is somewhat simple. So for example, a shield of arms something along the lines of http://images.google.com/images?q=harvard+sheild - maybe with just a B in it, and the rest just looks textured. But, when zoomed in, you see all of these other visual elements - perhaps wire frames, documents, computer networks, things like that. So for business cards etc, it would essentially just be the B with texture, but for the web, I would make the logo subtly interactive as almost a hidden easter egg - basically I would just import your vectors into flash, and when the user happened to mouse over the logo, I would zoom into some quadrant of the logo. Crazy? Perhaps. But I thought I would throw it out there in case it sparked any of your guys & gals interests.

I'd love to see some people try some more Wordmark only logos. I realize these are difficult in their simplicity, but I think I may still be leaning towards that as my final design.

Hi Folks,

I've started asking people to submit me some of their ideas in standard colors, so I can more easily compare one to another. They are not necessarily my final colors, but at least it will make it easier to compare. So, unless you hear otherwise, for submissions from here on out, please use #79784c as your background color. Text preferred color is white with no gradient, but if you need third or fourth colors, feel free to do as you please.

Thanks!
