You've mentioned that the design must be recognizable from a distance and that is exactly how a logo should be. Having minute detail of too many full bodies animals defeats that purpose. These submissions are design with that requirement in mind viewable from a distance as well as in small print.
I've taken into consideration the requirements for reproduction on nay substrate from print, vinyl graphics to embroidery.
Scott - I really like what you have going here. Great ideas and very hard to choose from for sure. The out lines of the sheep and bear and fish are ideal for what I am doing because it grabs the high end of brown bear and sheep outfitting along with the salmon is just great. As the state of Alaska goes for a recognizable symbol is there a way to use your concept of the bear, sheep, salmon into the state out line? I really like how Wild Wind sticks out in #26.
it may be possible to shape the 3 elements as the shape is almost there now but if I feel it is too much or or just not working I'll let you know...it will take me a wee bit to figure this out.
I understand, your concept on being able to recognize the emblem from a far, is great. I really like the sheep, bear and one salmon but a way to incorporate making the Wild Wind stick out but not too much more than Alaska, because Alaska sells.
#41 #42 #432 the Dull and Salmon are perfect fit for eh east edge of Alaska and the bear fit nicely tot he upper west coast and filled in the rest with map...the overall shape is Alaska
Yes.....this is getting better. Very well done. Is there a way to keep the bear, and sheep, I think those are good. Maybe flipping the salmon making him a little smaller so that the tail is the south east side of the state and the main body laying under the bears head incorporating it to make it the western peninsula? Would pushing the bears angle of the mouth down toward the salmon(slight counter clockwise turn)? Maybe that could clean it up to make it less crowded?Keeping the design with the bear sheep and salmon, with a light outline of the state boundary? I think you have some great ideas here, you are very talented.
I like what you have now. Since I outfit more animals I believe the bear and sheep should be a little bigger and the fish smaller #50, but incorporate balance like you have in #52. And possibly make the bear bigger in #53?
Scott - lots of choices and I like them. what is your take on removing the fish out of the logo and replacing it with a set of moose antlers? Or some kind of feel in adventure, backpack mountain hunting? Your working hard on these I know and I appreciate it
The map is not that important, I will go with what you feel. An adventure and exciting aspect will cover the Alaska map, since Alaska is in the first part of my name.
I think just a nice simple logo showing quality is the best. A logo for this type of work just needs to be easily recognized and remembered, catchy to the eye. Simple is better I agree and maybe the use of #29 sheep and bear facing different directions( it draws me a little more). I do have Wild Wind in my name, what about a concept of some type of wind(blowing into and becoming those two animals), or come away from that idea totally and come in with #31 or #32 feel of the mountains and wilderness setting?
Scott - I like all the work you have put into getting this together. There are a few last minute changes I think we could make. I really am starting to like #29. The sheep is perfect in #29.
1.If you could swap the bear head from #66 into #29 and angle his nose downward like the #29 bear, that should be good.
2.If the lettering on the "adventures" could be in the same font as "Alaska", a possible bold lucida calligraphy type lettering that is off of Microsoft word for an example. Then"WILD WIND" a little bolder and bigger than "Alaska" in a bold Georgia font. I think that will be good. Alaska Wild Wind Adventures Thank you. All your work is much appreciated.
I am liking it. If we could use the size of the bear head in #74(its a little bigger than the sheep) but keep the sheep facing left and the bear right. If the lettering could only have capital letters for Alaska and Adventures so "Alaska WILD WIND Adventures" Use the "wild wind" font in #77 for "Alaska" and "Adventures", but thicken the lettering a little to make it stick out. Use the bold font in #73 for "wild wind" Move the word "Alaska" above the sheep and bear Then have the sheep and bear above and not touching into the lettering of "Wild Wind" Then I think we have it.Thank you
need to add something to the lower section of the sheep and bear bear other wise it would have been a green clump that had no reason to be there...it was hidden behind the other submissions.
I agree on #79, it is hard to break down in writing. I wanted to keep the layout of #73. Keep the same font size as #73 but do the modifications with the text you did in #79. It would look like: Alaska "Sheep/Bear" WILD WIND Adventures
I like how you incorporated the mountain peaks coming out of the bottom. Would it be to crowded if the hint of mountain range flowed a little bit bigger to the width of "WILD WIND" ?
Is there a way to work with #82 mountain spread and make the mountain scene width - top to bottom taller yet keeping the white mountain peak contrast. I feel that the contrast with the white mountain peak and Sheep/Bear helps define things.
Is there any way to keep the form of #87, then enlarge the bear a little since they are a massive animal, use only the one larger ear on the bear instead of two?
please keep in mind that the the logo was never meant to be anatomically correct in comparison to the sheep...a design needs to be balanced...these minor adjustments though minor affect the overall look and fell it does change
When you do make your final decision the top 3 spot are required to be 3 different designers but 4-10 can be anyone could you take the time to give those spot to the other designers who participate...reason receive points for participating point system is simply an acknowledgement of contest participated.
Thanks for the heads up Scott. The only thing is, only you and one other designer turned logos in that I thought would represent me as best so I can put Baco in the rankings but no one tried as hard as you did and I think that you deserve all three spots.
