Paul...First off...Thanks for listening. We appreciate it!
As for our rights to use the logo...I am not going to post the language of our contract. I will say that a simple google search will probably allow you to find that they sponsored last year's event and you will likely find photos that include their mark all over the place.
Secondly...Even if I did post language from our agreement with the local distributer, the next logical question would be, "Well, do they have the rights to grant logo usage?" At that rate nothing short of a signed document from Adolph Coors would satisfy that test.
I also find it funny that no one as questioned the ability to use the radio station logos. The radio stations have lawyers too. :)
Lastly...As someone (who unfortunately) has been a party to my fair share of litigation in the past, I can tell you this. When people sue, they sue the people with the biggest pile of money. So even if I was running some sort of charade here and had no rights at all to use the logo and Coors decided to unleash their attorney's. I am fairly certain that they would go after the multi-million dollar broadcast company and not the talented graphic artists on a web site. BTW...Way before there is litigation, there is a cease and desist that happens. And if the folks at Coors for whatever reason wanted us to stop using the logo, we'd stop and that would be that.
Having read this, if you are uncomfortable submitting a logo, don't do it.
