What We Do
Family-owned neighborhood garden center that grows mostly what we sell and provides exceptional customer service - we also wholesale our products to local landscapers and organizations.
Industry
Home & Garden
Color Preferences
We prefer the use of more earthy colors that represent the horticulture industry, such as brown/tan, greens, blues, terra cotta/orange. Nothing real bright, more subtle tones. Logo does not need to incorporate all of these colors
Our Ideas & Additional Information
Our logo will have a wide range of uses, including exterior store signage, website, email marketing, print materials, staff shirts, and other various advertising uses (print and electronic). There are instances where the logo might work better oriented in a landscape version with ‘Wedgewood Gardens’ displayed straight across (with Greenhouses & Garden Center under the main business name using a smaller or different font style), and other instances where ‘Wedgewood Gardens’ stacked with Wedgewood over top of Gardens would work better for other uses. We are open to font ideas, but nothing too 'scripty' or 'boxy'. If possible, we’d like to see both variations to see what might work best. We like the idea of a simple logo design with not a lot of flair (a more conservative look and feel). Along with the wording ‘Wedgewood Gardens’ we were looking to incorporate a simple icon or image that is representative of what we offer to customers as a nursery and garden center. Classy but conservative. Our current website is www.wedgewoodgardens.com, which can be viewed for more background details of our operation.

Client
Designers, we appreciate you reviewing and submitting entries for our logo request. One thing we may have not disclosed in our Contest Brief is that we would like to see Upper and Lowercase lettering, not necessarily all Uppercase. We will certainly consider designs with all Uppercase, but we would like to see other variations as well. Thank you.

Thank you designers - based on what we see so far, some general comments would be that we do not want the pictorial to overpower the name - we want our name to be larger than the picture. Also, all of these entries have a more "formal" feel to them and we are not a formal type of business. We do not want to exclude using the initials WG in the logo, but a major local garden center also has those initials and uses it in their signage so we don't want to be confused with them so if we were to use the WG, it should not be in a script font since that is what they have. I know we said we wanted earthy tones, but we would like to see a little more color to the designs. Thank you.

Thank you all for your efforts - we would like the pictorial to convey that we are a greenhouse operation and that we grow and sell potted plants. If we could see some different pictorials with some of your designs that would be great. Also , as we are getting into this contest we are trying to visualize the different ways we are going to use this logo and that is affecting some of our choices. We need to put this on our large sign in front of the store, on stationary, on tshirts, etc, so we are looking for something that will show well on all these various applications

Also, altho we are not eliminating the left justified designs, it seems we are gravitating toward a centered design and a mild serif font of some type. We are definitely leaning away from any scripted fonts.

Thank you all for your entries . This has been very difficult for us because there are elements of each design that we like and it is hard to verbalize our preferences. We would like to see some variations on what is here. At this stage of the contest, and seeing all of your excellent work, we definitely want a centered design so that our name will be as large as possible on our outdoor sign. We also like the element of "since 1966" or "est. 1966" incorporated in the design. We prefer that the pictorial be more horizontal than vertical in nature so that it fills in more evenly on the outdoor sign. Also would like to see some more variations on pictorials - we are trying to capture the fact that we are a greenhouse that grows potted plants and that we are a friendly neighborhood type of environment. We like some of the pictorials but haven't exactly had one "speak" to us.. We prefer our name to be all the same color, although we don't mind having another color introduced elsewhere as there is in some of the designs. Where there are leaves involved in the pictorial , we prefer them to not be just stagnant but to indicate growth in some way, We will also send private messages regarding specific logos to help with this last phase.

Thank you so much
