What We Do
SCOUT is a blog to support local business. SCOUT-Charlottesville is my first venture. I hope to add to my blog with SCOUT Newport, SCOUT-30A etc. I will be "scouting out" local finds--helping to support artists and local business. I see myself as a tastemaker for local culture. Getting on the inside of Charlottesville...finding the gems that make a specific place unique. This will appeal to a higher end boutique market.

Indian/Buddhist symbols, paisleys, a lovely design element for SCOUT....universal symbols.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
I would love to use a dog as my "scout" pictoral mark or a Stag, possibly just simple antlers. Drawings....no cartoons. Want to make sure it appeals to bohemian style culture....women vs. men....not too conservative. Spiritual, Buddhist, Golden Rule.

Colors I like..pale lavender with khaki.
I like the idea of a watermark used for one item in the logo.
I like the http://www.floraandhenri.com logo but just need a dog or antlers as my "scout" mascot.
If cannot come up with a dog mascot....I like a wreath icon....or half wreath with star above.

Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage more participation.

~~ Ranking designs daily will also keep your contest from getting cluttered.

~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you are going to see.

~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested"

~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.

~~ Ranking is a non-monitary means of showing apprecaition for designers hard work.

~~ Designers earn points for ranked designs. We like to earn points.

More detailed information on how to get the most out of your contest can be found here:

Dear CH just to take this in count:

How to Rank and Thank Designers: When it comes time for final rankings, designers appreciate when you choose the top three CONCEPTS (as opposed to variations of the same design) for the gold, silver and bronze awards.
Also, rank as many entries as possible, because designers get points added to their overall site standing for each blue ribbon they get.

This is how points are distributed:

1st place - 50 points
2nd place - 20 points
3rd place - 10 points
4-6th place - 5 points
7-10 place - 3 points
11th+ - 1 point

After that, each ranked entry gets one point for the designer. Nobody will be insulted by being ranked last, the points are still good! So if you pull some entries out of the "Not Interested" group and give them a rank, the designer gets some benefit from entering your contest.

Hope that's helpful, lots of contest holders don't realize this and most are glad to know. It's a good way to thank designers who don't win the contest prize, but who worked very hard to offer you lots of options to choose from for a great logo.
