There are some funny lines there! :)

#1 . . . Hi APE. Good start. Some clarification. We don't need to keep the same microphone graphic if you think it can be modernized and improved upon. Same with the whole enchilada . . . we're not married to the round cornered rectangle . . . etc. Let your creative juices flow. The game's afoot!

Some clarification . . . we do want a facelist, not a new gal. But that could take many forms. While not married to the round cornered rectangle (what I meant in post above (#1) is that I wasn't married to the round corners . . . a designer might want to see how it could look with clean, sharp corner lines).

I'd want to stay with the same aspect ratio . . . about that of a flatscreen TV, what is that? I think 16:9 or so. That same space is necessary because the logo will appear on keytags, printed forms, etc., where for some time the old and new logo will be mixed together. One could think of a lot of different ways to modernize the old logo. Obviously different fonts . . . new mike graphic . . . perhaps something in place of the corner stars (just thinking out loud here . . . $$ signs??). You could do an interesting exercise with perspective.

This is gonna require some top flight creativity--I think this assignment is far harder than designing a new logo from scratch. So I appreciate the skills and talents that go into the work. Please give it your best, everyone.

Entry #13 is strong. What would it look like with either all square or all rounded corners? Differentiation between blues is difficult to pickup. I'd experiment with different shades of blue. Nice work.

Entry #12 also nice and features best use of microphone for the letter "I" so far. What about a more vibrant blue? Would that make this pop more?

We all like the simplicity of #8, Fernando, but everyone feels the slant of the microphone is too much.

There so good work here. Thank you folks . . . I'll keep checking back frequently today and comment as modificatioins and new designs come in!

What a great burst of creative energy we're seeing here. Entry #31 is quite strong, as is the entire Identis series. What we all like about this rendering is the maintenance of the same aspect ratio as the old logo (while a new logo is being phased in it will, of necessity, have to be working along with the old one on a lot of print pieces), strong use of the word "radio" and the clever incorporation of the microphone into the word radio--as well as the "$" on the mike stand. I wonder if it could be made some stronger by use of an actual dollar sign "$" instead of the "S".

We all like entry #25 by dotwoman for many of the previously stated reasons. Felt it was very clean and appealing. There was concern expressed by some committee members as to whether there was enough contrast between the blue tones to really "pop." It is, however, a very good entry that might be played with. In her series we also like entry #23.

Entry # 29 by identis . . . and his entire series . . . is innovative. We especially liked the strong use of the word radio, the smart inclusion of the microphone for the letter "I" and the subtle use of the mike stand to form a $ sign. Would that work if there was actually a $ sign in place of the letter "S"? Something to think about.

Phillipcc, your entries are interesting, especially the old fashioned microphone. That mike style, however, is associated more with public address systems than broadcast studios. There are possibilities to refine this, I'm sure.

All in all, this will be a difficult decision. There are some excellent pieces of work here. Please give it your best shot . . . keep on innovating. Thanks very much.

This is getting more difficult for the committee--because there is so much high quality work being done by what we feel are just top-notch designers. We wish we could pay for and use every logo, but that's just not practical.

Some quick comments.

Entry #66 has a nice appeal about it . . . fresh look to see the microphone, which is a dynamite retro graphic, on the right side. That's outside the box thinking. Thank you!

Entry # 64. Everyone thought the innovative approach to making a bag out of the rectangular background was interesting.

Entry # 57. Nice use of alternative color tones. That color combination could work.

Entry # 62. Too dark -- no differentiation.
