Hi Jared,
if you could give feedback on individual designs, that would really be helpful.

no football players. this has to translate to television and big elements like that detract from the logo itself. at the very minimum we would like all the colors used. red, white, and blue. more tech and streamlined. the ones that are ranked best need work as well.

For us with little to no insight in the world of American High School Football, could you please explain a little bit what the words "PREP" and "Pigskin" stands for/what meaning they have.

(My spontaneous guess was that PREP was an abbreviation for 'PigskinREPort', but now I'm uncertain, thinkin' it must mean 'Preparation' or something...

Think this could aid in the creation of more elaborate logo creations.

Hi Jared. First, I'm a very long time fan of the PPR as a San Diegan so I know all about what a local treasure the PPR is and have so much of respect for the station and coverage KUSI gives our local teams that no other station covers.

Is there anything about the logo you wish were done differently or do you have a general critique?

A little bit about the logo I submitted: In the header, I borrowed the star from the KUSI station logo and gave it a little techy feel with a font that's both very modern but more importantly, easy to read. Also as a San Diegan, I know the social power in the recognition of the PPR letters (you can simply mention "PPR" to any SD local and they'll know exactly what you're talking about without having to say the full Prep Pigskin Report name (this also works in the minimalistic "letterform" style you mentioned in the brief) so I put emphasis on the PPR letters themselves as a brand within itself. For the PPR font, I started with a second, complimentary techy font and then completely took it apart, added the pointed serifs for contrast to the secondary font and added the chiseled metallic look that is very popular with local and professional team logos. The flying "flaming football" and the pointed spires give the mark immediate impact and action. And the red/white/blue/black color combination will fit in well with the KUSI corporate color scheme.

I'd love to get the logo to where you're happy with it so I'd have pride in that I helped contribute in a way to the promotion of the PPR. Thanks Jared.

Hi Rob,

please try to keep this area for discussions about the brief and general questions that are of interest to us all. (Which parts of your note is...) The info about your own contribution is supposed to go on the specific designers page. Just click your logo and fill out your logo specific comments there.

Kind regards

Sorry. It was a little confusing as to where to post what. I'm a first-timer here.

thanks to all for your entries. We are looking for a logo with the Red, White and Blue that can be chromed as well. Silver and Black are also okay.
The design by Rob is what we are looking for. A logo within an emblem that works on Shirts, hats, and especially television. All submissions need a background. The letters PPR and the full Prep Pig Skin Report work.
hope this helps. We will post our Station logo for use within your submission on Monday or you can find it at KUSI.COM

THANKS.

for those that don't know:

Prep stands for "Preppy" traditionally used in relation to northeastern private university-preparatory schools, as well as those who attend Ivy League or other prestigious private colleges and universities. The term is used to denote a person seen as characteristic of an attendee of these schools.

Pigskin is another term for football. They used to be constructed from actual pig skin back in the day.

so all together its a report on high school football.

Hope this helps.

Thanx for the files and the additional info. It does help! :-)

Also, since many of the designs above does not have it.... don't forget CH asks for:

"All submissions need a background."

Just want to emphasize that.
